The maker of frozen pasta sold nationwide under Walmart’s bettergoods brand has issued a recall after state agencies on opposite ends of the U.S. found that some bags may contain listeria bacteria.

Gias Foods pulled two lots of its bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine after receiving the results of testing done by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Washington State Department of Agriculture, according to a statement posted on the Food and Drug Administration website.

The statement notes that the company stopped distributing the product in the wake of the findings, and it has launched an investigation into what happened.

The affected bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine products came packed in 22 oz. yellow plastic bags bearing the UPC# 194346442706. They are marked with either lot number L6079C or lot number L6080C and have an expiration date of 9/19/2027 or 9/20/2027 stamped on them.

While no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the recall, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in small children, elderly individuals, and others who have weakened immune systems, the FDA statement explained. Healthier individuals could suffer high fever, severe headache, or nausea, among other short-term symptoms.
