TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Did you know you can soon get a taste of Rome without ever leaving the Valley?
Italian restaurant “Roman God of Fire” is preparing to open Aug. 7, with reservations currently available now. The restaurant is located at the corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway.
Co-owner Teddy Myers said the concept has been in development for three years and centers on wood-fired Italian cooking inspired by the art and architecture of Rome. Guests will be seated among picturesque Roman-style sculptures.

Award-winning Chef Scott Conant, who said he has been cooking Italian food for more than 40 years, described the restaurant’s culinary approach as ingredient-focused.
“Italian cuisine is about restraint,” Conant said. “It’s about really focusing, honing in on the ingredient, extracting as much flavor from that product as possible and just letting it be what it is.”
Menu items include stewed cockles and manila clams with baby tomatoes and guazzetto, grilled head-on shrimp, supplì with various fillings, rigatoni carbonara with pecorino romano and guanciale, a Roman-inspired pasta matriciana, and a house salad. The restaurant also features a cocktail menu.
