Italy is often seen as the land of beautiful towns, incredible food, sunshine, and a relaxed way of life. But after living here for almost 25 years, I’ve come to realise there’s another side to Italy that tourists rarely see.
In this video, I explore the hidden social pressures that many Italians experience every day—from fare bella figura and family expectations to economic uncertainty and the fear of falling behind. I also explain why these same pressures help create many of the things we all admire about Italy: strong families, beautiful cities, incredible food, and a society that feels deeply human.
This isn’t a criticism of Italy. It’s an attempt to understand why life here is both wonderful and, at times, emotionally demanding.
What do you think? If you’re Italian, do you recognise this? And if you’ve lived in Italy, has your experience been similar?

I don't agree on one point. That people stay in the same place. But agree mostly on everything else. You get judged a lot in Italy
Depends !! Are you able to to think in Italian as well ? I'm able to think in both English and Italian. My character changes
