SYNOPSIS:
During the Allied campaign in Italy in 1943, a platoon of American soldiers lands on the Italian coast with orders to capture a farmhouse and secure a bridge held by German forces. Led by Sergeant Porter and Lieutenant Rand, the men embark on a long and dangerous march through enemy territory.
As they advance, each soldier struggles with his own fears, hopes, and doubts. The quiet moments between battles reveal the personalities of the men—some are brave, others cynical, and many simply long to survive and return home. Along the way, they encounter artillery attacks, sniper fire, and the ever-present uncertainty of combat.
When the platoon finally reaches its destination, they launch a fierce assault on the German positions. Victory comes at a cost, leaving the surviving soldiers to reflect on the sacrifices made and the true meaning of duty and comradeship in wartime.
