🏛️ *ABOUT VITERBO*
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The 2026 edition featured a giant metallic flower sculpture in Piazza del Gesù, a suspended Delphinium avenue at the Cathedral bridge, a floral ellipse with a central rose bud in Piazza del Duomo, and a 10-meter tower of wildflowers and climbing plants in Piazza San Carluccio. Live music, costumed medieval reenactors, and seasonal flower markets fill the streets throughout the three days. The San Pellegrino quarter is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval districts in Europe, defined by its profferli — the characteristic external arched stone staircases of its 13th-century houses — and the Church of San Pellegrino, dating to 1045.

  1. Thanks for walking through Viterbo with me! This tour was filmed during San Pellegrino in Fiore 2026 — the city's annual flower festival that transforms the medieval quarter into an open-air garden every May. This year's edition (the 36th) had the theme "Ephemeral Visions in the City of the Popes" and featured a 10-meter floral tower in Piazza San Carluccio and a suspended Delphinium avenue at the Cathedral.

⭐ HIGHLIGHTS: Flower Market at Piazza San Lorenzo (5:57) • Cathedral di San Lorenzo (11:33) • Palazzo dei Papi (15:12) • Piazza del Plebiscito (48:56) • Medieval District / Via San Pellegrino (1:07:35) • Live Music in Piazza San Pellegrino (1:11:20)

🇮🇹 Fun fact: The Palazzo dei Papi in Viterbo is where the word "conclave" originated. In 1268-1271, frustrated citizens locked the cardinals inside (cum clave = "with a key") to force them to elect a new pope. It still took 1,006 days — the longest papal conclave in history.

  2. Hello from Utah! ✨ Isaac, my husband Todd and I just spent our afternoon walking through Viterbo with you, and this was absolutely charming from start to finish.
The old town architecture is so fascinating to inspect—those ancient bricks, the stones, the rooflines, and the intricate door details are incredible. I also loved noticing that this city clearly had a bit of historical 'tower envy' going on with all those massive towers you passed by! The history shared down in the crypt about hiding during the war, along with that post-bombing model, was deeply moving. And that pink church with the ringing bells? Just lovely.
As fellow travelers who map out our own walking routes, I felt so much sympathy for you when that one beautiful cistern was completely covered in construction! It is always such a drain when you plan your path perfectly and run right into scaffolding.
We loved checking out the succulents and the flower festival columns with you, but I have a spunky question about that market: I think I saw a pepper labeled as a 9/10 on the heat scale! Can you actually eat peppers that incredibly hot, Isaac, or did you just admire them from a very safe distance?! 🌶️🔥😅
Thank you for such a magical, immersive experience today. Sending a massive 'Positive Boost' your way! 🤗 — Shauna (and Todd!)

  3. First time using the subtitles in years ,thank you for the information it made it really enjoyable and it was not a distraction

  4. Isaac, una vez más: maravilloso tu recorrido por Viterbo! ¿Vos, o alguno de los que recorrimos contigo virtualmente esta ciudad, sabe el nombre de la canción que suena en el minuto 59:05?

  5. All those flowers, my god, such a beautiful experience! I must say that this camera make me feel a little sick, it turns less gently than the other, but you already know that right? Thank you so much for the tour ❤

  6. Thanks! Enjoyed the video makes me think about heading there on my way after visiting old friends in Corsica.

  7. Thank you for showing me this pretty town of historical significance. I like the piazze with the appropriate size and look of the fontane. I also look forward to your Orvieto video. Years ago I spent 2 days there during the Tutti gli Santi.😄
