Robert DI Nero is 82 years old. More than half his fan base he built up has passed away. The ones living don't want to see an 82 year old actor unless he is playing the sweet old man who walks across the camera and that's it. No one wants to stare at an 82 year old man for 2 hours.
The fake tough guy has-been, Robert DeZero, destroyed his legacy & hasn't made a good movie in 30 years. In the last 10 years, his intense envy & hatred of Donald Trump has him looking like an 85 year old grandmother. All he needs is a shawl.
That movie should have been great. All the really good people were involved in it from a writing standpoint and directing. It was a great subject also. You had the Vito thing against Costello, with Anastasia and Gambino in there. They also could have touched on Luciano slapping Genovese around in Cuba because that motivated him to make the power move that he did. DeNiro should have only played Vito and gave Costello to someone else.
The problem is Martin Scorsese didn’t direct that’s his genre .. that movie sucked because there was no humor in it .. Goodfellas and Casino even the Irishman can be hilarious n dramatic
I watched Alto Knights on Netflix recently. I thought it was an excellent show. I think it was based off a true story. I think Robert De Niro has upset a lot of people with his political beliefs is why it didn’t do well at the box office. Italian mob, Irish mob, Russian mob, Cartel, it doesn’t matter, a great movie is a great movie and people will watch them if they are truly a great movie.
The good mob content is going to streaming, and it's all British. Joey is actually right. The Italian mob experience can only be told by guys like Michael here, and those guys are in their 70s, 80s, or gone. They're dying out. I'm 53 and I can't think of anyone my age or younger who could create a good ITALIAN mafia story. I briefly worked at a mafia run front business for one summer. I was 15 and I've got one story I could tell second hand. I was too young to see anything and I really didn't want to.
