Today I’m running around London only eating fast food chains that were actually born in Britain 🇬🇧 with @harrykersh — and ranking them from “decent scran” to “this explains the empire”.
Greggs, Morleys and Wimpy… all fighting for national pride (and my cholesterol levels).
Along the way I’ve been drinking HOLY — zero sugar, loads of flavours, and genuinely clutch when you’re 4 meals deep and questioning your life choices. I’ve been using their Starter Set so I can try a bit of everything while I make progressively worse decisions across London.

Ironically, you could have had Pret a manger, with its fancy foreign name. As a visitor to London that was the most strikingly visible chain that we don't have in the provinces. It appeared as numerous as chemist shops in Paris, practically on every street corner.
33?? damn i thought you were 26 at most LOL
You say fast food isn't so big in our culture but afterall we came up with Cornish pasties and fish and chips for miners to munch on. It's the chain part that we don't care about, we get our takeaways from independents but American brands won't come across the Atlantic unless they can do it en masse. I'd say there might be a market for Harry Ramsdens across the UK now, it's harder to find chippies open and doing good quality or home deliveries.
Greggs Sausage rolls are a poor example of the genre. Tasteless and under-seasoned
GaryEats gave Gails a good kicking
I found out there is a Wimpy chain in Eastern Canada. Not sure if it's the same as the British Wimpy's
21:44 what about Pret? I know they did well in Hong Kong and I've seen a few in New York 🤷♂️
That was great, but you missed a bunch of others, and arguably more successful ones than what you showed. Pret a Manger, who have successfully expanded abroad, Itsu, Wasabi, Tortilla. And you could go to a couple of the ones you mainly see in railway stations and similar, like one of the pasty chains (West Cornwall Pasty or the Pasty Shop) and Upper Crust. Not that I think the latter would be especially good, and a local Cornish bakery chain would be better than one of the nationals, but you're not going to go all the way to Cornwall for one of these.
Definitely scope for a second episode I reckon.
Since Gregg’s is more like a bakery w/ premade food, I hesitate to call it “fast food.” Even though McD’s/BK have cooked patties in heating trays, they assemble burgers to order and toss out pre-cooked patties after a short time. Likewise, the other places that are more bakeries don’t really count as “fast food” to me.
No uppercrust 😂
Budget only stretched to the single fish and chips portion
About 55 years ago in the Wimpy in my home town a gang of us were in one saturday morning.
The waitress was on the other side of the restaurant looking bored.
I called across and asked for some service.
She said it wasn't her section.
I asked whose section it was?
The reply! She's not in today.
I thought Phil Wang would have been funnier 😂😂
No leon? thats a shame.
11:45 the guy in the background smoking and not caring about the video is the most British. 😂
Does anyone know if Greg’s is iconic?
Yo Nibs don't think I forgot about the low taper fade promise
British people acting like gravy is like exclusive to them or something wait until they find out about other types of gravy
Great video enjoyed it but maybe have the music turned down a little but overall was a fun watch 😊
Deep Fried Engagement!
I left a comment on your latest long form. Can I have a Cadbury’s crème egg now?
Wimpy food was always shite let it go 😂
America hasn't got any of this
Wimpy is actually from South Africa
