Grocery shopping in Italy. I explore a few stores and discover some wierd and wacky items on sale. Definitely more than just cheese, wine and pasta. This is what Italian supermarkets look like, and how Italian EURO grocery prices compare with GBP and USD.

there I love my grub I really do and I
love going into forign supermarkets to
see what kind of fruit vegetables bread
cheese wine they do and anything which
is unusual so I’m going to go in there
and I’m going to explore this store

as per usual we’re greeted straight away
by fruit and
vegetables grapefruit at €25 per
kilo now that’s something different
Roman broccoli or is it Romani
broccoli wow

sharp okay let’s pick a spirit at random

sorry but I do like my

cheese Buffalo milk
[Music]
mozzarella there’s always such a huge
selection of cheese in Italian

supermarkets cool four eggs that cut
stone in wastage doesn’t it

I need to make a confession I really
don’t know one wind from

another they really do love the red wi
and it really don’t they

I’m not sure if videoing a packet of
spaghetti is actually regarded as
hostile reconnaissance here in Italy I
didn’t want to push my luck just in case
so I stopped when I could and uh I’m
going to explore another store
now are you ready to check out some more

I’ve noticed a lot of produce is
actually grown right here in

kilo and pineapples €1 128 per
kilo Lemons with stems and

this is why I love exploring foreign

supermarkets I find so many things I’ve
never seen

before H I’m not really a great fan of
pumpkin but I will definitely draw the
line

here I always seem to be drawn to the
cheese section

that mozzarella and plastic containers

salmon look at the selection of olive

oil and the dried pasta selection

as expected no shortage of coffee what a
range on offer

quite a few teas

surprisingly B coffee winds in

Italy I also love my Seafood so do the
Italian
Italy is almost surrounded by sea after

all even some of these are at the limit
of what I could eat

I do love poin a beer it’s difficult to
find in the
UK Heron is also a good

drop I also wouldn’t turn my nose at
Mori

either I haven’t heard of esaa before
but that was a seriously big Supermarket
loads of interesting things but again
very busy and lots of Staff around so
you go in there you Blitz it and you get
out fast right I’ve just got another
Supermarket let’s go in there and see
what they have to

offer I’ve never seen R zucchini before
that’s a new
one sorry but I seem to have stumbled
across cross the Chee section

again nor chinto must be a better brand
it’s almost double the

price no talking how much for this look

man 3.7 kilos of cheese I had go through

that 20 kilos of cheese that might be
the limit I think

uh the Italians love their crunchy

biscuits okay to finish off this Gourmet
video there’s one more one last store
I’d like to
explore straight away upon entering I
realized this wasn’t a

supermarket I couldn’t help but notice
very few items how a place quarter
that’s always bad same

well guys you might have noticed that
was not a supermarket it was just a
market and a rather upmarket Market is
there such a thing as an upmarket Market
I think there is if there is that’s one
of them it’s fine Fine Foods in there
yes definitely uh that’s down to my very
Rusty
Italian and exploring a store I’m going
to have to refine the way I’m doing this
because although as far as I know
there’s nothing wrong with videoing a
cabbage it’s just not socially
acceptable and I’ve noticed that people
on YouTube who do these kind of things
always have pairs there’s one person
doing the shooting and one person
standing there as a kind of a shield
also holding a phone with Google
translate on that’s the way to do these
so I’ll have to have a rethink on how
I’m going to do these Explorer store
videos but in the meantime I’ll see you
next time okay

Brilliant video. Loved it. Just shows you what muck we're given in UK supermarkets. Morrisons and Tesco just don't cut it. More of the same please Scott.
Most European Cities are cheaper for food in the UK , I know that I’ve been to 28 countries. I would say Iceland 🇮🇸 tops it for being rather expensive , just come back from Sarajevo, Bosnia 🇧🇦 and food , transport is a lot cheaper than UK
The first supermarket in the video is Carrefour based in Como ( my town) it is very expensive I will suggest trying supermarkets like EUROSPIN or IN's ( both chains you can find everywere in Italy )they are much cheaper and with great quality. Greetings from sunny Glasgow 😉

I shop in Germany and even in smaller supermarkets there is such a wide variety of really good quality fruits and vegetables, cheeses and fresh produce at prices less than we pay in the UK. Wines and spirits are cheaper too. I guess that's another Brexit bonus.

In Italy in supermarkets it is forbidden to touch any type of unpackaged food product with your hands, fruit and vegetables in particular! In fact, plastic gloves are available at the entrance.
i love love your channel but dont like when your picking up the fruits and veggies just for hygine reason i hope your hands are clean lol
We visit Rome a couple of times a year and find the supermarket great especially the cost of bottled water a total fraction of the cost of rip off England. Wines and beers very good value also. Great video once again

As a frequent visitor to France, I found that interesting Scott. Like you, I adore cheeses which although in France are dearer than the UK, they are a thousand times better, and the staff behind the cheese counter will usually let you try a sliver. The cheeses in Italy look good.
Comments on your film – 1. I guess you know nothing about wine because in Australia it is sold by grape type, so they simply want a bottle of "cabsav" and that's it. 2. Scottish Salmon! Wow, in France I can only ever buy Norweigan salmon because of Brexit. I wonder how the Italians get it! 3. Disappointed at no Craft Beer. In France it's getting quite big like in the UK, but for me Peroni is just another tasteless multi-national giant.

In Italy everyone wears plastic gloves when they touch the fruit and vegetables. The gloves are with the plastic bags. You might have got the unhappy looks only because you weren’t wearing a plastic glove.
Note how the fruit and vegetables are sold loose and not all wrapped in tons of plastic like here. I’ve only ever been in one supermarket in Mantova in Northern Italy, Lidl..
I can only speak from recent experience in Spain and France but it seems European supermarkets put UK ones to shame (except Waitrose). Plus they are about the same prices and often cheaper.
Carrefour is not the cheaps in Italian there would be better supermarkets cheaper I travelled many year to Milan as a truck driver
