Another Italian Value Wine From Sicily | Nero d’Avola

In this video I discuss another amazing wine value from Italy. This time the wine is from Sicily and is made from the Nero d’Avola grape.

These wines can please both Cabernet Sauvignon drinker as well as someone who enjoys California Pinot Noir. Give it a try, you will thank me later.

doing a quick little sip of some Naro
[Music]
davala welcome back to drinking it in I
am your host Chris Cassara uh you just
saw my wine assistant Monty walking
through uh the periphery of the camera
we’re here to help you know more and
drink better and I’m in a good mood
because uh my day is ending or my day
has ended or work day has ended and um
I’m going to have a little sip of Aero
Dava now if you followed me on this
channel for a little while you know that
the house wine in the casara household
now is the kosy narava from Sicily we’ve
fallen in love with this with the narava
grape and the wines from Sicily and
we’re giving this one a try although
full disclosure tried it last night
really liked it this is a kusano narod
diava 2020 it is estate bottled so
that’s fun that means all the grapes are
coming from their estate and and um it
is from the do the Cecilia doc I believe
is uh yeah Cecilia now what’s neat is
this is not this was not a cork this was
not a uh screw cap it was this little
glass
seal uh pretty easy to undo or open up
the wine so uh and that was a pleasant
surprise last night when I was uh of
course I pulled out the cork screw took
off the little the little top and um saw
that it was a glass uh closure made my
life
easier narava these wines are typically
medium
bodied um this one’s they’re they’re
very they’re the noses are pretty they
their fruit is very expressive um I
usually get a little um I’m going to
call it perfumey and and spice notes so
it’s it has similar characteristics to
peo although the the Aromas are very
different like P Noir is very red and
raspberry you know Cherry Cola um
whereas these that goes a little bit
more towards the black side of the fruit
scale this one is very much black
cherries it’s a little reminiscent of um
of a of a bigger Pino Noir like
something from a Russian River even you
know um cuz there
there’s like a a baking spice uh
characteristic to
this and perfumey like like a just a PO
Perri but a popery that’s not like uh
too
perfumey and I just got like a cherry
Gumball
nice bit of
acid
lovely smooth um Glide over the pette um
a little bit of tannin not too much but
uh but there’s some weight here right
this isn’t a w this is a wine that’s
easy to drink but that has a little
weight the um alcohol is 14% % so a
little high I mean not I mean a little
high you got to got to be careful
drinking a
14center um much easier to drink
something that’s 12 without uh without
care but um the Finish stays with you
for a while I’m getting a lot of those
black cherries they’re sticking with me
um this is the perfect you know again it
was a Tuesday night wine last night so
opened it up uh ner deava uh at some
point I said I’m going to
ultimately I’ll do a uh a feature on my
favorite Naro diava producers as we
continue to explore Sicily and do more
videos on it and um cusamano good
showing probably pretty easy to find
I’ll put some notes in the uh in the
description so that you can uh you know
easily link up and find this wine for
yourself let me know if you’re drinking
more narrow Diabla I’m curious and don’t
forget to subscribe
I’ll see you soon cheers
