You will find La Bocca Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria located along Thappraya rd just before the Hanuman Statue at the traffic lights. Of all the world cuisines represented in Pattaya City, Italians are probably the most numerous. So in such a competitive market, how does La Bocca stand out?

StephanoWell for starters, La Bocca is one of the original players in town, boasting years of experience with REAL Italians in the kitchen and front of house. The restaurant itself is a little slice of Sicily, something out of The Sopranos. With lovely creams and terracotta colours set against the furniture and table dressings the eye really is in the detail, making this feel like a true Italian experience.

As for the food La Bocca offers up all the usual Italian treats from antipasti through to steaks and tiramisu, all of it beautifully cooked and presented. Now some Italian food can feel a bit too stodgy and rushed. No such problem here, LOVEPATTAYA had a few dishes to share including Spaghetti ai frutti di mare con pomodoro (seafood linguini) and a Lasagna alla Bolognese. The sauces were rich, and thick enough to cling to the pasta. The seafood (mussels and scallops) was cooked to perfection. I was informed by my fellow diner that the lasagne was one of the best they had ever tasted! We also shared a ‘small’ Margherita pizza which had a lovely crispy thin base and good tomato sauce. Even though LOVEPATTAYA wasn’t particularly adventurous with its menu choices, if an Italian is knocking out the simple stuff with such quality then that only means the rest of menu must be a winner. We will be back!

On a final note, I almost forgot to mention the wine list at La Bocca is glorious! Offering a lovely house white or red, if you’re feeling a little bit flush or it’s a special occasion. LOVEPATTAYA recommends you give one of the bottles on the ‘premium list’ a go. Prices range from 2100– 5000baht a bottle and there really are some wonderful old world wines available. LOVEPATTAYA went for the Medittera Cabernet-Shiraz which was a lovely smooth red which went beautifully with our meal (NB if you can’t already tell, we here a LOVEPATTAYA are not, I repeat NOT wine experts… yet.) All I can tell is La Bocca was a lovely experience overall which puts it as one of the top foodie destinations in the city.
