Hi there Denny here from Disney California Adventure it’s time for a meal in fact my husband is running a half marathon tomorrow and so we need to carbo load I don’t he does although I don’t mind a good carbo load that’s for sure so let’s you and I go to Wine

Country Tratoria or Trattoria totally up to you um but let’s go stop by there it’s a it’s a restaurant that I have walked by so many times and have never stopped at I’ve been intrigued by it and I’m excited to get to actually try it today so here we go hope you’re

Hungry let’s go it’s like excellent thank you we are at our table there are both indoor and outdoor seating options right now beautiful big open Terrace outside and then kind of a bowling alley of a room inside so you can kind of see it’s not huge there’s not a lick of fabric in

Here so it is loud thus I’m holding my mic close to my mouth um anyhow we are at a Tut toop table here and we’re okay with being inside tonight because it is a little chilly outside my sag salad that I ordered has arrived here to the table

There were a couple of additions to the menu uh that we were told today can you hear how loud it is in this room great googly moogly so anyhow they changed out the kinata which is a fuka bread with tons of stuff on top for a cheesy garlic

Bread today which I’ve been told is cheese inside and cheese on top very cheesy which that’s fine with me friends give me cheese I’m okay with that they’ve also introduced a side salad the side salad is very California it’s made with a very California flare California

SL Italy and this is kind of what this restaurant does there are two wine flights on the menu one for 21 and one for 23 you get three 2 O pores and one is an Italian wine flight and one is a Californian wine flight that’s the $23

One so I think it kind of straddles Both Worlds here at Wine Country trara so as does this side salad the side salad features a champagne vinegret it also has roasted artichoke on top haved cherry tomatoes and then a beet romesco on the side or RCU on the side so it’s

Beets and ricotta that have been whipped and it’s like bubblegum pink so it’s kind of wild to have that sitting on your side salad plate all right I’m going to try a bit of the bee RCU okay there’s cheesiness going on so that’s the ricot that’s nice it’s just a crazy

Color to have associated with the salad it is bubblegum SL Barbie pink it’s just so funny it’s like um it’s like a paint or toothpaste kids toothpaste looking stuff but no that’s really good all right I’m going to take a bite of the salad I’m going to get the

Strawberries um I’ve got some of the roasted artichoke on the fork here we go manga that’s really good I don’t eat a lot of artichoke like hardly any ever but that’s really good I like the texture that roasted AR chip um blends to the salad that’s really nice I love the the

Spring mix blend that they’ve used here of lettuce is yeah the champagne vinegrette it isn’t anything to write home about necessarily but I’m going to add some of the Beet rasu rasc mhm it’s a nice light salad I’m going to mow through the entire thing because I really want a salad

Tonight I like that they’ve added a few special touches like the roasted Arch chokes palamari is here on the table it is lightly breaded calamari with herac Co served with a pepper and Chini aoli it is $14 on the appetizer menu again only only three official appetizers on

The menu they’ve also added that side salad so we have friends pepper and cheny Ale can I tell you that I was a little afraid of the calamari in this place I don’t know live but I just think you’re in a theme park although I love Disney California Adventure a little on the

Greasy side but really quite good tender I like the batter that’s been used that pepper and Chen aoli is delicious not it’s got It’s got a bit of like forwardness to it a little bit of acidity going on and then that’s tampered by the by the mayonnaise used

In the aoli but that’s good let’s try kick in the huh a little bit of a kick in the batter yeah yeah a little kick Brian’s saying there’s a little bit of a kick in the batter yeah a little bit here’s the herac co which are french green beans if you don’t

Know off we go they do love their green beans here at Disneyland Resort you know from the long beans over at tangaro Terrace and Trader Sam’s right here good peppery just got some pepper on the back of my throat there Entre have arrived to the table and we are going to kind of

Share a little bit back and forth of our Entre Brian got the spaghetti bologan the spaghetti bolones features a rich Ragu of beef Italian sausage tomatoes and Seasonings it’s $20 he could have added meatballs to the dish for an extra $7 now he remarked at the smell how it

How good it smelled when it arrived to the table and I agree it just smells like hearty yummy warm comfort food so I’m going to grab a fork ble here we go Brian has loaded me up with a little bit of ever King on the fort

M I like a lot of sauce on my pasta so I would probably ask for like a side an additional side but that’s got a really good flavor to it I love when Italian sausage is added to Spaghetti um good friends of ours old friends of ours do that when they make

Spaghetti they make it with Italian sausage it just adds this next level taste to it and um oh that’s good warm sausage e fening like it’s just really good for my entree I got the chicken Parmesan for $27 the chicken K is breaded and fried chicken breast with tomato sauce and

Mozzarella served over spaghetti first observation I haven’t even tasted it yet but first observation is that the chicken breast it looks nice it looks moist meaty whatever presentation is lovely aesthetically looking at it smelling it but the chicken breast is not pounded flat which is a little bit I don’t understand

Why why chefs do that with a a chicken parm like chicken parm is chicken parm let’s just pound it flat friends pound it flat make it the size of the entire plate but just pound it flat so right off the bat I’m I’m disappointed by it and and

Listen I’m going to be honest about this right I don’t want you guys wasting your money if it’s important to you to have pounded flat tender chicken breast in your chicken par that being said I will now I will now have some of the the thick chicken breast here we

Go that’s not good I’m going to continue I’m going to have another break it’s okay I am it’s okay um it’s a little chewy a little rubbery it’s not the best most flavorful chicken parm I’ve ever had I feel like I get better chicken parm at Macaroni Grill it’s not flavored it’s not

Seasoned well there’s I would not get this again the the spaghetti sauce is okay it’s got some bright notes going on with this with the tomatoes chicken farm is not is it is it edible yes it’s edible but it really doesn’t have any flare to it at all not at all so

The Chicken F went back I’ll explain when we’re done I don’t want to sit here in the middle of the restaurant and explain the whole thing chicken parm one p so I have the spaghetti bolog andise let’s try it again we’ll talk friends let’s talk can we talk can we

Can we talk as bubbles are floating by let’s talk so this restaurant I would not recommend you go to just keep on rolling go somewhere else check out San Francis sooko the you know counter service over there we were on on a mission to find carbs um and so

This reservation was available and Brian thought oh carbs we you know that so we had some carbs so you can we can check that box so as I said at the table very quietly and very quickly the chicken parm went back it wasn’t good it wasn’t good um immediately just like at the

Tony’s Town Square review um if the chicken isn’t pounded flat I’m not sure you can call it chicken parmesan I’m not sure that’s the same dish maybe it’s adjacent to chicken parm but that’s one of the calling cards of chicken parmesan is that you have a chicken breast that

Has been pounded flat is even across the board and thus will be prepared in an even fashion this this chicken breast was way too thick it had no flavor it you know some uh herbs were used some but very little when I lifted up the chicken

Breast um the breading was coming off of the chicken breast underneath it just it wasn’t good it really wasn’t good it did not have a discernable flavor it was not pleasant it was a bit rubbery like no no no don’t get it please so that went back

Um because listen I’m I’m paying for this this is my own money and so I don’t want to have uh you know a throwaway meal at a Disney restaurant if I’m paying $27 let it be something that I’m enjoying I was not enjoying that so I went ahead and got the spaghetti bolones

That Brian was having um which was okay again check on the carbs um I would have loved a little bit more SAU as I said at the table I loved the usage of the Italian sausage but even this dish was a bit on the oily side and it doesn’t have to be it

Doesn’t have to be oily I know that they’re producing in large batches all those noodles and yet that’s a delicate dance to have to dance to make sure that everyone’s noodles are uniform and still good um so but it was it was a bit oily the size salad again I really enjoyed

That that was a $6 side salad that was good and the calamari really was the best thing on the table tonight but even the calamari as I mentioned earlier was a bit greasy Wine Country Tratoria it’s a gorgeous location I mean look at this Prime beautiful Hillside location like

Brian said I thought it was going to be something like the Hollywood Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World which is a very good thought that he had like wouldn’t you think it would wouldn’t you think it would be with a a gorgeous expansive location like the one

Behind me it’s not it’s just not maybe it’ll be that someday but today friends is not that day hate to say it but it’s not so the question goes to you have you dined at Wine Country trara here at Disney California Adventure if you did

How did you enjoy it what did you think of your meal let me know if you would recommend it to someone else down below and then of course let me know either here at Disneyland or at Walt Disney World in Florida which is your favorite Italian restaurant I really want to know

Like if you were running a run Disney race where would you want to carbo load and where would you recommend that I go let me know down in the comments I look forward to this conversation thank you so much for watching today as as it becomes evening here look at San frano

Look how pretty that is now with all those lanterns I mean there’s just nothing better than an evening in Disney California Adventure I I love this place but um I digress thank you so much for watching tonight I really appreciate that if you’d like to please consider

  1. It's so sad because this place used to be one of me and my mom's favorites 10 years ago. But honestly my last meal there was very lackluster :/ Sorry to hear you had to go through the same scenario.

  2. Based on the experience of friends and other reviewers, I’ve long thought of this place as good for a glass of wine outside and maybe an appetizer. Seems like that holds. Haven’t done a lot of Disney Italian dining, but I do love Via Napoli. Was last there in August 2023 and everyone in my group enjoyed it (although it was noisy!).

  3. We ate there back in Jan 2020 as part of an ABD trip. They set up a private space for us with a buffet and it was quite good. But it appears that isn’t indicative of the normal menu. Neither of those entrees looked good. Where was the sauce? And no one wants a big thick hunk of chicken in chicken parm. Thanks for the honest review!

  4. Hi Deni & Brian,

I never liked Chicken Parmigiana. My wife and I have always enjoyed our food at the Wine Country Trattoria. I have never tried the Chicken Parmigiana at that restaurant. I wonder if that is one of a few entrees that is not that good. You and Brian may want to try Naples Ristorante in Downtown Disney. We also enjoy our meals at that location.

  5. Thank you for the honest review, Deni. A thick cutlet in any dish, is a nightmare for me. Chicken cutlets must be pounded thin. I try to get mine as thin as possible before breading or battering them. It’s definitely a sensory thing for me. My family is also in agreement. We had lunch there years ago, but I can’t recall how the food was. We did sit outside.

  6. It’s never been the same since Covid. We went there a couple of times pre-Covid and it was amazing. Then they dumbed it down. I’m surprised you even had bread service, now it’s just not the same. So disappointing because the location is just lovely.💖

  7. Very helpful! Going to Disneyland Resort in May and this is good to know as we plan a few relaxing sit down meals. Thank you for being honest and kind hearted!

  8. Deni !!! Appreciate the honesty, I think you're generally a bit over positive (just your nature to see the good in things 😊) so when you've got a more negative review, I know it's coming from a place of honesty ! Appreciate that so much!

  9. It’s bizarre that Disney clearly tries so hard in most aspects of their culinary department to at least have the appearance of authenticity and they have multiple restaurants sending out chicken parm with, seemingly, straight from frozen, not pounded flat, chicken breasts. That is basically universally viewed as incorrect, it’s not really a personal preference thing. Its a pretty ubiquitous dish for them to be doing so poorly; particularly when it’s not really in the interest of time or cost savings.

  10. Granted, things might have changed but I ate there a year ago, sat in outside patio. Food was delicious – salad, an appetizer & glass of wine. Ambiance – felt spacious and comfortable as opposed to many of the other DCA eateries. Excellent service. I’d certainly try it again. Sorry you traveled so far to have a disappointing outcome.

  11. Love the foreshadowing at the beginning – eek! Regarding chicken parm, I would recommend asking wherever you go and order that, "how is the chicken prepared". I do that with key lime pie but I ask what color it is. That eliminates my disappointment by having GREEN PIE brought to the table. I think the is the worst meal you've ever reviewed, and you still did it with class.

  12. That table looks like it was just plopped in the aisle. I don't think I could sit there. I would feel like everyone was looking at me

  13. Best Italian @ Disneyland is at Downtown Disney Naples Ristorante. It is about a 7 out of 10. Wine Country Trattoria was about 3 out of 10 when we ate there in March 2023. I also ordered the chicken parm it mas very sub-par. My families meals too were just meh. Such a shame since the restaurant has beautiful patio dining.

  14. Hi Deni,
Yes, we have tried several times and honestly have finally thrown in the towel. Since its inception it has fallen flat every time.
It needs a serious menu and kitchen overhaul. We actually call it the Tonys equivalent in Disneyland. I wish I could have warned you.
Thanks for the review and big hugs.

  15. Hey Deni! I would’ve sent the chicken back if it wasn’t good. My cousin judges italian restaurants by their spaghetti & meatballs. I love your reviews. ❤️❤️❤️

  16. So glad you sent that chicken back Deni! A cutlet isn’t a cutlet if it isn’t thin! It’s a fact, not a matter of preference.

  17. Trattoria and Napa Rose are the only restaurants i haven't dined at in the DLR. Glad to see i can skip this one 😅

  18. I was going to say I loved the chicken parmigiana at Macaroni Grill. I always got the eggplant parmigiana but they don’t have it anymore. I’ve never eaten at Wine Country before. Love your reviews.

  19. So sorry you had a bad meal. We ate their in Jan and had a good meal. The salmon was good as was the calamari. Our service was fine. We were seated outside on a chilly day and had to ask to have the portable heater turned on which seemed like something that should have been done before we sat down.

  20. Years ago we ate there and had a special meal on the patio, but on our most recent trip in 2022, we got the World of Color dinner package and had a very disappointing meal. We won’t be back.

  21. I’m a local and have eaten a Wine Country quite a bit. I generally sit outside, spring or summer, for late lunch not dinner. I like the shrimp Alfredo and usually the seasonal salad. I would not recommend it if you are on a budget but want splurge. I’m glad you sent back the dish. I feel like people need to do that more when $$$ and not good. Best meal all around every time is still Cafe Orleans although not Italian. Their menu has fantastic seasonal changes. Carthay both the patio and lounge (different menus) are on my special occasion wish list.

  22. I quite agree. We gave them one last try last weekend and were quite disappointed yet again. We were hoping that the first visit was a fluke, it was not. We'll stick with Carthay Lounge from here on out.

  23. This restaurant has suffered forever… the food is not good, the seating is terrible, the menu is lacking….it is a pass!
