Daisies we’re at daisies in uh Logan Square uh north side of the city this place has moved locations since and they moved into a larger space this used to be a German beer hall but it it is now home to all the projects that they have they’re very ambitious with their pasta

Program here they’re known for really fresh produce because Chef’s family owns a farm it’s called fman Farms they do amazing things with uh seasonal ingredients so everything on here it it’s bound to change over the seasons and their pass the game is alltime high let the show begin from daisies this is

But it’s so [ __ ] up that something so delicious like this and I mean it it’s like a a 10 out of 10 incredible [ __ ] dish and how it Pals in comparison to the [ __ ] flavor bomb that you experience when you eat these things what that’s the Uya in there man that

Fermented sausage and the fermented uh tomatoes out of control out of control this is the [ __ ] showstopper wow this in the in the in the zucchini dish all of it [ __ ] it’s a vinegret you can put it on [ __ ] anything like black it’s a black olive vinegret so good told you

The olives I made it that it gave it that meaty well it’s always like you’re constantly looking how do you get people to eat their vegetables pack it with Umami pack it with you know animal fats Umami olives salt brine um butter um and that’s basically it it’s

Like yeah the the focal point is the vegetable but a lot of it is based upon like how do you get people to Crave that um so it’s healthyish I don’t know thank you Chef uh half chicken cab and vinegarette broccolini oh and then real lemon real

Treats oh [ __ ] that’s out of control go oh unbelievable these little things yeah the popcorn that popcorn that’s popcorn oh that’s so I don’t want to I I I that’s so refreshing I can’t eat anymore we got to come back tomorrow not coming back tomorrow we got to come back

Kind of do all the pounding and tenderizing the papaya cuz it’s uh it’s it’s raw green so kind of breaking down the fibers in the moral and pestl and it has this really nice roundness with the vinegret it tricks your brain into thinking that you’re eating noodles because it looks

Like it but once you bite into it you can immediately tell that it’s a vegetable or a fruit and the carrots as I said I mean that my favorite thing is citrusy and it’s got a little bit of spice oh my God okay that’s that should not taste the

Way it tastes like a spicy peanut sauce okay baby corn broccoli um Sprouts carrots I don’t know greens of some sort over white rice that looks fantastic thank you a pimo wow another noodle dish I would not touch that with your hands oh [ __ ] you’re right just you can smell

It it’s going to open you up dude spicy but it’s good yes it is it really does complement the food really well M these [ __ ] noodles are Godlike Godlike I mean all the food groups are here except for the dairy and it’s just it’s an incredibly Savory dish it has a nice aftertaste

Um it’s it’s very Thai wow and it’s very delicious I will say that this is like a perfect lunch just you know going from the small appetizer dishes to like the heavier kind of like it’s almost like comfort food in a sense everything’s very comforting all right well let’s uh

Settle up let’s pay this bill and let’s go get some burgers and some hot dogs with some peppers that are deal bars What we’re at uh red hot Ranch uh the West Lake View location they have they’re known to have some of the best uh smashed cheeseburgers like quick smash cheeseburgers they’ve quickly become a Chicago Classic for their depression style hot dogs their Smash Burgers it’s

Kind of it was like a like a best kept secret for a while but then a lot of publication started writing on them and um yeah they’ve they’ve uh gained a lot of popularity a lot of momentum and and they just have a solid product it’s fast

Food but it’s they give a [ __ ] it’s nice and for a day like this why not have a cheeseburger you can see the wetness of the paper it’s not water that is pure grease in the best possible way the fresh cut fries steamed bun oh yeah so depression style right you see your

Sport Peppers you see your onions see your mustard if some of the fries happen to get into your bite so be it right it only adds to everything and then this thing weighs about half a pound which is out of control but is a classic Smash Burger we got the

Double the lettuce is on there for decoration at this point they got their own secret sauce tomato pickles onions stick your fingers Between the Buns while or the the patties while you’re doing that he went like this to to remove the the fries from here he went like this put his

Whole hand in there and then is this my water yes whose water is this that was a good burger excuse me part of my reach I mean this is just one bite right that a good burger I’m nor one I don’t remember tasting this good right

Have consumed and it it used to be open late night pre pandemic obviously the pandemic changed a lot of things so they close at normal times but I remember coming here at like 2: in the morning wilding out people were wild in here just wasted out of their minds um all

Right so what do we got left what what do we have going on for the rest of the day uh Joe’s Pizzeria and Wheeling Hector’s Hometown it’s time for me to give you the tour of Tours I grew up in the next ones in the condos right after right in between these apartments right here this bottom right one right here next to that door to the right that right there that’s me boom 1993 to like 1999 that’s my door right there that guy’s entering through my door

Cemetery the W the walls you seem so much taller back then um since 1993 I have uh been having pizza here at Joe’s Pizzeria since 1993 before there was a Jiffy Lube right here um before the kamachos move moved out moved into this area like this whole this whole place

Was my playground lollipop is the name of this park where the first courts that I ever played basketball been uh here in in uh in Wheeling the second one was obviously the one across the the thing but anyway Joel Pizzeria excellent pizza but also it has excellent sides right

Like burgers BRS all the above let’s Go I feel like the pizza that you serve here can stand up to any Tavern style pizza in Chicago so why did you choose Wheeling of all places we’ve been here for uh my dad and his uh Partners started in ‘ 66 so we’ve been here for uh 57 years

Wow and it was just like a family thing uh family tradition thing yeah my dad and his partner started it now me and Rich got it work for us for years he he bought out my dad that’s awesome and and then uh we’ve been going at it now for

I’ve been doing it about 43 years Rich about the same that’s a long time that’s a lot of dough I’ll start should I just start sending on stop when I can get it the second is in yes please sounds great thank you that’s beauty that is beautiful

And we’re like Joe and you know like the concept of a neighborhood pizza was not a thing for us right it’s for to immigr isn’t it oh so how’s everything oh my God it’s just just incredible incred incredible as us usual yeah and you said you’ve been a longtime

Customer so we yeah since 1993 okay we moved uh my family and I moved here since ‘ 93 I went to Home Junior High School graduated from Wheeling in 1997 yeah so good I mean we we order every time I’m in town I order from here

Every time every time I don’t miss out I never miss it never yeah no delicious marineras even if you’re not in the area this is a destination spot you should [ __ ] drive out here cuz this [ __ ] is worth the trip no matter where you’re at
