I’m Ryan Gosling. Look, can you with details coming up in class starts today. Monday. January. 15th //2024. >> We are back its MLK day and this year it falls on what would have been Doctor King’s 95th birthday time. His legacy of service. This morning we’re shining a light on a couple in

Alabama who started a very unique restaurant. NBC’s Blayne Alexander caught Up with them playing. Good morning. Well, guys, good morning to you. I’m joining you from the King Historic District here in Atlanta. This is really the heart of the King Day celebration. But of course,

His legacy is wide reaching. That includes a small town of Brewton, Alabama. That’s where we found one popular restaurant that’s keeping Doctor King’s legacy of service alive every day. >> Even before the doors open the energy at Drexel and honey. Bees. Bees buzzing.

I’m here in Brewton, Alabama. It’s one of the hottest lunch spots in town. But what you won’t see big news prices or a single dollar exchanging hands. This restaurant operates on donations. Only their motto is simple. We feed the need. I just wanted to do something to show people that.

>> Money does not does not make the world go around. >> It’s the brainchild of Lisa McMIllan and her husband Freddy together. They’re serving up hot meals every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00PM to 01:00PM, a small town in southern Alabama. Britain’s population barely

Tops 5,000 County wide. More than 17% of people are food insecure. Lisa has spent much of her life trying to change that for more than a decade. She drove door-to-door delivering meals. >> Over 100 a day, a lot of what else of the people

We’re struggling. Everybody should have a right to be able to. Water is right and have a meal. >> Not worry about paying. >> She shared her dream with Freddie and the 2 were all in together. They took half of their retirement fund to bring Drexel in honeybees to life.

>> So when you first tell your friends and family about this, that I was crazy. >> People are telling us how you got no, I got over a restaurant and people all they were the was charged of people going out of business.

>> 6 years later, this is the daily lunch rush. I they even had to recruit a little help. So if you stand by to our entire, that’s just a fraction of their work. Lisa does all the shopping. >> How do you all decide what’s on the menu that appears on was

On sale at the grocery store. >> Then comes the cooking. Every meal is homemade. >> This is hard work got is hard work. >> But that work comes from a personal place. That’s because years ago, Lisa was in the very same position.

>> I was pregnant and I’m no food was some. I was barbecuing and I smelled it. And I just the corn because I didn’t I didn’t have anything to eat. And I just want I don’t want anybody to go through that. >> That’s why she pours her heart out here today. Drexel in

Honeybees gets an annual grants to help keep doors open. But the bulk of the support comes from the kindness of strangers. A lot of people coming out to Sheryl Story. Believe it or not to hope. >> We have a lot of people that normally wouldn’t.

>> Social with each other and now they’re friends and her customers feel it, too. >> The male was like, Yeah, that’s right. Help me. >> But the real heart of the place Lisa says is the donation box. >> These partitions to okay. The petitions of could have had

To make sure everyone had their own little private a place to come. >> That privacy, she says, is the only thing that keeps some customers coming back. >> We had to set it up where they could keep that private, keep it intact. And that’s what we did.

>> Some days she finds $1000 inside others. Just a few coins, but always the handwritten notes. >> Thank you because of you. A family of 4 today. We don’t find a whole lot of money in there, but we find everything we need in the air to keep going.

>> And she plans to keep going for a long time to come every year. >> As God give me 20 mo, you will or 20 more, 20 more years. That’s right. 20 more years. These tools will never quote. >> And she really is committed to that. She says the doors

Will never close at Drexel in honeybees and I believe it or not, she and her husband are still putting their own money in to make sure that the doors stay open. They said they’ll use the rest of their retirement if they need to do it. Now that places very special. But another special

Aspect are the volunteers there. People they say that come from as far away as Indiana and Maine. They heard about it on Facebook or social media and they say they locked down there because they just want to be part of something special. Guys.

>> Wow. Lane, thank you so much for shining a light on that. Love the guy who’s like the food is secondary, right? Yeah. The community and what a beautiful, beautiful example in her spirit is so touching. Absolutely sure. But on our

Website if people want it, you know, you can see there to put the money in the Shirley was the way people don’t from a distance that out as well. Yeah. >> We love celebrating birthdays on the Today show 104 for grandma job where she watching from Lockhart, Texas.

Is she on the phone right now? >> And that’s true for just 4 down in Texas. And it’s surprisingly warmer here. I think right now. There she is. Pretty much looking. Good while. >> Happy birthday to you. Oh, my gosh. Happy birthday, Grandma. Joann everybody else on the plaza. We’ve got a lot

>> We are big fans of Teddy swims and his amazing voice. And just wait until you hear that he’s putting on a Taylor Swift pit. >> Her son up to 20 in this pocket. Double D you’re pulling double duty this morning to start

Doubled its a big one, too. Yes. All right. We’ve got you covered. We’re going to start with the Critics Choice Awards. Last night the stars came out for the 29th annual show honoring those who shine brightest on the big and small screens. Oppenheimer no surprise white miso money with

The most movie wins, bringing home a trophies, including best picture ensemble cast and director. Meanwhile, the Bears succession and beef dominated in the world of television. And a special award went to Indiana Jones himself, Mister Harrison for taking home a trophy for career achievement.

>> Really happy to be here tonight to see what our business is turning into all of the two-week people who are getting opportunities want to thank you. Locally work supports me when I see a lot of support. >> I mean, what is your son gets choked up. Gets me choked

Up. So adorable. Congratulations to him. And when it came, the speech is moving speeches. America first. I had the crowd feeling all the feels with these powerful words accepting the see her award because I grew up. >> As a first generation Honduran American girl, she’s

In love with TV film and theater who desperately wanted to be a part of the storytelling legacy that I could not see myself reflected in because of writers, directors, producers and executives who are daring enough to rewrite outdated stories and to challenge deeply entrenched biases.

And and some of my beloved Latina colleagues have been set Greenlee blast to bring to life some fierce and fantastic women. >> So I said Congratulations to America. And it was a big night for Barbie. 3 tunes from the soundtrack for nominated for best original song. >> And the Critics Choice is

I’m Justin. >> That phase, I mean, clearly goes down the Reactions Hall of Fame or lack thereof. The Internet immediately declared Ryan Gosling winning as its new flavor of 30’s, even just taking this. All right. Next to friends who remembers this iconic TV moment. >> A family take thee, Rachel.

>> Remember that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure because a pair of the original scripts from the season. 4 finale of friends that were discovered in a garbage can just sold for nearly $30,000. According to the auction website, those pages were supposed to be destroyed after filming to

Avoid any of the spoilers from getting out. But a former employee at the London studio found them in the trash and held on to them for the last 25 years. Wow. The former script owner said she’s not even really huge. I am a fan of

Friends but just led to pass the awesome memorabilia onto. So yeah, writers back then how it’s just imagine that got it. I mean, that would ruin the whole thing that we all just get that right. Next up, Nicole Kidman a few years ago, the Oscar-winning actress May pop culture history with this big

Screen campaign for AMC theaters. >> Dazzling, you need to use the huge silver screen sound that I can feel >> I need to get to the movies more. That video which runs before movies took the Internet by storm fans recreating her legendary monologue. Even full theaters reciting the words in

Unison. Now that sparkly Michael Kors jumpsuit is up for sale. It’s a size to the Grey. Pinstripe ensemble is being auctioned off by southern bees and is expected to fetch somewhere between 5 $10,000. That sale closes next week. If you’re looking for something at your traffic tickets in

Something other than a and finally, Teddy swims. The soulful singer recently visited the BBC Radio One Live lounge and covered this Taylor Swift Mega hit. >> was a really good first. Just shows you what a great song it is. You know, it’s the power. The songwriting was

Continuing to cover it. Team Taylor. He was missing and that his way a little bit. What up next. >> Vick is helping to tackle your biggest financial goals in 2024. With simple solutions to some of the most common money mistakes. But first, this is today on NBC.

We are back with our money saving Monday series. The New Year is the perfect opportunity to reset your finances. So here to help tackle some of those common mistakes and save some money importantly, along the way as NBC’s Vicky Wynn. Vicki, Nice to see it to see you. Happy New Year. So let’s

Get through this. If we can quickly. A lot of people did a ton of holiday shopping and now they’re dealing with the aftereffects of that. A lot of people to the pain out by later thing is having an impact. How can we help those folks? Yeah, there’s this. Trump floating around called Phantom

Debt or shadow debt. It was coined in a recent Wells Fargo reported that really refers. >> To all of that debt consumers are taking on through buy now. Pay later plans. You’ve seen them. They’re offered by big companies like a firm Klarna after pace as well.

And what they do is they give you a chance to pay something off interest free installment. But the challenges these loans are not being reported to the credit agencies and some estimates have them at 46 billion dollars in phantom debt that the government doesn’t know about and that sometimes consumers.

>> Lose track of it all the sudden you’re trying to play catch-up. You know the allies, how much you owe it to your begins of begins to pile up. Speaking of piling up, subscriptions pile up these days. If you’re not careful, you find yourself paying for all sorts of streaming services

And those whatever else. Right now we’re on subscription overload, Peter. And it’s not just streaming services and music razors. Car washes, shampoo, laundry detergent. >> Anything a company can get you to set and forget they want to because it’s profitable. So to combat that you really

Need to sit down and do an audit sit-down with that credit card bill and go through line by line. What can you tell me? What don’t you need any more? I mean, the average consumer spends $200 a month on subscriptions, according to see

In our research is outright. That’s a ton to tout its 2 and a half times more than people realize they’re actually spending. So look at your bills and I know you’re not an impulsive person. Peter, careful for those of us who dabble in online shopping. Sometimes it’s helpful to

Delete the auto saved for the credit card. If you go downstairs, get your wallet manually enter that credit card number. >> You may be less likely to make that impulse. How many times do you start or your kids want to start like sign up for

Something and you’re, you know, within 30 days to cancel it and you never do. You’re paying 9.95 for months to actually could be hundreds of dollars. And you save. Let’s talk about interest rates right now. Their high. Obviously, that’s an impact for people who are just carrying debt and ends up

Just growing and growing on that. >> Credit card interest rates are really scary right now. There are at record highs. Forbes advisor says as of last week the average credit card interest rate was 27%. That means for every $100 you put on your credit card that you don’t

Pay off having to pay back $127. It can be really hard to climb out of that kind of level of debt. Right? So first, if you can pick up the phone and call your credit card, wallet have did a study and they found 77% of the time.

When you call and say, hey, could you lower my interest rate? They do. So that is money on the table for you. The other thing, if you can switch to a 0% APR card that will give you 12 to 18 months to get ahead on your bills, kind of try to pay

Down some of that debt. Lendingtree also recommends may be taking out a personal loan. The interest rate will be lower than the rate you’re paying on your credit card. Use that loan to pay down credit card. >> Bills and then that will improve your credit scores,

Which is huge. So let’s talk about savings for individuals as well. This is a way that you cannot save money but make money. Yeah, the process too many people have regular savings accounts which means you’re leaving money on the table that those regular savings accounts are getting you maybe half a percent back.

>> Last year we talked about this. This is really the year of high yield savings accounts were talking about 5% that you could be making on your money, which is simple. It’s easy. That is the one upside of rising interest rates is that

You can make more off of your savings. So look, for those accounts, sometimes they’re online banks sometimes or brick and mortar banks, but a lot more offering high-yield savings account. So move your money there. The good thing is you can access it at any time. It’s super flexible. It’s not

Like a CD or sit certificate of deposit where you sort of lock up your money for 6 months or a year at a time. You’ve got this 5% AP Y and its growing your money as you speak. If you have to make a big purchase, it’s perfect. Another good reminder,

Take advantage of the benefits that you’re that you’re getting from your companies as well, right? That’s yeah, that’s that’s huge. A lot of us don’t take advantage of all those financial wellness options that are given to us. Certainly we have the 401 k. We always want to remind people, Max that out

Putin as much as your company will match because that’s free money. But a lot of times companies now offering you help with your student loan management. They’re giving you stipends for wellness and you go to the gym, that kind of thing and also access to free financial adviser. So when

You’re looking at your compensation package, look at the overall all package, not just the salary number, but what are those other benefits? >> And that might just call just asked. Hours. They can do is say no, that’s your get all the money. We’ve got to give

You the exact looking. Nice to see you. Thanks for that. Good advice this morning. We’re back in a 50 with start today. And plenty of people are focused on getting healthier in the new year, of course. And leading the charge, especially among women is strength training. It was the second most popular fitness

Trend of the last year. That’s a quarter of the American College of Sports, Medicine and the subscription based fitness app. Class past says that sign-ups for strength training classes have increased by wait for it. 94 1%. So here with everything that you need to know to start your journey is

James MC Million. He is a yes certified personal trainer and the director of innovation at Tone House will not for for any other reason. I like to get to a nice to see you, my. So let’s walk through this a little bit. Let’s talk about the strength

Training churning us so much about strength is about your mindset, how that will cause what’s important about mindset. So you have to start with the mindset. All right. What I like to tell people S progress over perfection. All right. Technique overweight. All right. You have to focus on

That technique and build up in your journey as well as you have to set realistic goals for yourself. All right. Your spirit has to be stronger than this vessel. When you think about training to talk about it, you have to be intentional

With you have them answer. I just think it you have to really do a lot of people go on Instagram. They like I want to try this new will and all that. Now you have to set a goal around your capabilities and that’s what we’re going to next

As a luxury is in terms of capabilities. We have some ladies here to be our models for the process laser out just a to feel. Thank you. Ahmed will go in this segment. So a lot of this is is the road map and sort of figuring out

Where you are fitness wise, so help lead the way, OK? So saying those intentional goals, you have to set short-term and long-term goals with that. You have to understand the capabilities in your body. So we have a strength assessment and now buys you guys to do this at home,

OK? So the first movement we’re going to go right into. We have a push-up. You want to do as many reps as you can for one minute and that he was not writers who asked for a yes as many as you can. And now you have to understand if you’re

Breathing is off. If you’re mobility. All the above range of motion in that push-up is off. Second think we’re going to go into going to stand all the way up into a squat. Now as you have to have a chat show with a part, you’re going

To go deep into that. Swat flies out. Now things you want to think about is my mobility. Okay. It’s more range of motion and a mom able to stay up. Right? Okay. You do that. The 15 to 20 reps after that. You come right back down came

One into a full on playing all right on playing. You want to keep those. It’s nice and leveled. If you find your body lowering all rise and really, you know, you have to adjust and work on your core accountable. That for one minute was long as possible. After that, you work on

Flexibility and mobility. They go hand in hand. Haha, which in our toll. So it’s going to go down to the floor. We’ll get a nice stretch of on those hands. Strains can touch of tolls. It’s O K. That’s what you have to work on your

Learning your body before your mobility say in that deep squat, nice open chest place to handle to go out and raise up to to say let’s say hello to the world and the wayside. Yes, you go to the opposite side and you raise up. That’s

Going to show you your mobility fee due to strip assessment. Understand your body, your capabilities and then that’s when you go. And that’s what we see. Who works out. >> Whether whether is this is banned in 2 years. >> Yes. So now, you know your assessment, you know, you

Capabilities and your understanding, yes, you want to know, OK, what weight do I? Yes, I will always tell clients ago from body weight, resistance, man’s into dumbbells and then into barbell, OK, why is that? So with resistance? Mance is joint friendly now with

Dumbbells. Now you can work in different planes of motion as well as a little bit lower. So what am I doing here? So right now you’re going to go about your workout, used to with what I’m going to utilize. It don’t know, OK, I’m going

Into it. The SWAT you’re going into a front was this man. So you’re going to place your feet on the bad end to the fee to be shoulder with with a par slightly turn those tolls out. Okay for the tracking of you need with the point of the

Ewells out one hills down. Now you’ve got a grip that ban will go into a squat, OK? I want like of this kind of Grand Bahama. You want to have like that totals up. We’re going down into the squad. So we have 3 sets of 8 reps at

Home. If you like to do with us. All right. Come back up. Think about dry, warmer and drier. Thanks to a Florida heels with the new Wonder Woman High. Okay. Great job. So we’ve got 2 more reps to keep going the next. We’re going to go

Into as a bent over rows. I’m going to grab this out there. Don’t do here. They’re going to step up debates. Yes, okay. This is here. Stagger stance and now the foot that should be pointed out. Yes. Like what’s the point of forwards or nice big chest

Neutral spine, yet much of loose was at back at all. And now we want to think about going and I also the ceiling pulling our show, the Blake. I get there just like that as if the last one of the smaller you back. Let’s do it right.

So now you have a chest press. Yeah, I’m going to come over to the bench press. If you have a bench press at home or in your local gym, our Labs, Inc. >> I want to keep going here. We are back with our 3rd and 4th out.

>> There’s guys there is, you know, working out the and the second was to make a first your local news >> This morning. On the 3rd hour of today, Arctic blast. More than 100 million people waking up to bone chilling temperatures, snow and dangerous freezing rain and

It’s only going to get colder. We’re tracking all of it. Then a wild weekend to kick off NFL playoffs from huge upsets. >> I want to play off game. >> To that SubZero showdown and it’s not over yet. We’re live breaking down all the action and our series taking off

Today. One couple’s incredible health transformation. How they dropped more than 100 pounds together. That’s all ahead today. Monday, 1/15/2024. >> Live from Studio One a in Rockefeller Plaza. This is the 3rd hour of today. >> Good morning, everyone. Welcome to the 3rd hour of

Today. I’m dealing here with our weekend today co-host Peter Alexander, Laura Jarrett. Yeah, house here here. Our cake. And now all on this holiday morning. Today, of course. >> Is a day to remember Doctor Martin Luther King junior and reflect on his legacy. No doubt this is such an important day.

Doctor King, of course, was born on this day in 1929. In Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in the segregated South, would go on to devote his life to tirelessly fighting for civil rights. Doctor King was also known for his in. >> Passion speeches, of course, including his iconic addressed

During the march on Washington where he shared his dream for the country’s future. >> I have a dream. One day He do in just minutes with the heat of oppression being tried and freedom and dropped a 3 one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the

Color of the mask and but by the content of bad character. >> I’m still so sure. Even today across the country today is also a day of service in Doctor King’s Honor. >> Yeah, my wife taking our girls to do a community project

Today. It’s nice to notice to to to use this day, not as a day off from school, not as a break from the office, but as day to really remember, he’s like a scene and hopefully to pay it forward and even explaining his legacy to our children. I think just keeps you know.

>> My forward. Yeah, for sure. All right. Well, we are, of course, happy to have both of you here today. And the weekend was a good weekend. >> Was good. It was a cold one which made for a good sort of dog day of Winter. Thanks. Owes me a star. All just

Chillin watching football weekend. Also home to DC after our show. Little more football to watch. Stars looking so good needs. It needs a little cleanup. Not all. >> All right, Chad, she’s duty saying after anchor with Peter, I go try to find my children. My son James, thus far. He’s it

Is Ninja class. And because moms it work, dad has to get them dressed. When I got to the ninja class I said was hanging down. Haha. Well, James put on his sister’s was a what he what kind of bus and it to right. It was right. He can that and

Because it was so cold, we did a fair amount. So yes, there is one Z on a 4 year old. Yeah. And because it was so cold, we did a lot of blue this weekend. We got in deep. Yeah. For like a bunch of new episodes. Drop guys. Louis,

Those it’s just as much fun for you to watch. I mean, I was laughing. >> Haha. Yeah, we actually have been up. It’s warm. All my kids are absolutely obsessed. And we’ve been seeing in the songs all weekend. This is us not let up on the couch

Watching yet another Muppets movie. And then here, Calvin there. The count on the left who clearly needs a haircut was Shaq’s finally agreed to let us get him a haircut and look at the lake. Look at the difference here is is like shaggy kind of summertime. Look, he looks older or younger

And just happy the mop is thrown a little gel and their 2 little same old or older, right? Yeah. Young man finally convinced him. All right. Well, it was a cold and snowy weekend across much of the country. More than 100 million people facing dangerous temperatures with record

Breaking cold likely today. So let’s check in with NBC is Jesse Kirsch in snowy Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jesse, do you even have a degree? They’re like even a single degree. >> I unfortunately have been looking for one. I think we left them at home. Don’t fear large. Good morning to all of

The kinds of so you have a better weekend binge eating some TV than being out in this. Take a look at what it is outside right now in Grand Rapids, 0 degrees. Roughly. That is our real temperature. But what it feels like with the

Wind chill is about negative 19. And it is actually I think snowing harder now than it was even an hour ago. This is day 7 in a row of snow here in Western Michigan. I met a woman over the weekend named Kim Davis who because of the

Conditions on the roads, which are definitely, you know, not the best place to be a. She decided to walk to the pharmacy to get some toothpaste. She said it was a 90 minute trip. You know, all and round-trip 90 minutes of you can imagine that. So that’s the kind of thing people are

Doing just to get some toiletries right now. It’s not just an issue in the Great Lakes. All this weather. We’re looking at a lot of cold weather across much of the country anywhere from 20 to 45 degrees below average today. And take a look at the scene from Colorado. Officials say

Over the weekend an avalanche hit a highway there. Just to bring it back here to Grand Rapids. Real quick. I just want to show you this is the street out here. You can see it is still blanketed in snow. So definitely slick conditions

For people on the roads and you’re trying to get your flight. Good luck with that as well because we’re tracking more than 1500 cancellations tied years. Airports already today, according to FlightAware the flight tracker. Guys, back to you. >> All right. Searching said that. Nice pink, rosy glow.

So that’s that’s a plus for you while that and get warm. Thank you so much. All right. So let’s take a look at the cold blast on the maps because I mean, it is dangerously cold for so many people right in the middle of the country

Stretching all the way down into Texas where it’s going to be about 40 to 50 degrees below average. Houston will feel like 21 degrees today. Dallas will feel like 5 below that wind chill is brutal all into the Great Lakes. Obviously the wind causing more lake effect. Snow up near Buffalo off of

Lake Ontario, too. Temperatures in the 20’s going to the next several days. Looks like Wednesday in Chicago. We might get up to 17, but then Thursday we could see another reinforcement. >> Of cold air. That’s just going to keep this week. Very fridge. But yeah, be careful out there. This is a

This is unpleasant weather. That’s for sure. By the way, speaking of weather was better on a cold day than staying inside watching a little bit of football. The NFL’s wild-card weekend was just that it was while that was insane. But man, was it fun to watch? And NBC’s Kaylee Hartung was on the

Sidelines for what was the 4th coldest game in NFL Playoff history in Kansas City. She fortunately is thought out is back indoors in La Kaylee. Good morning. >> Yeah, guys. It is wonderfully nice to be back indoors and I plan on watching football from my couch. Cozy as

Ever today. You said it. That Chiefs dolphins game went down in the history books. The 4th coldest game ever. This is what playoff football is all about and there is still more to come. >> Super Wild Card weekend delivering the drama and see a

Few tears in there. Detroit in the next 3 decades long playoff drought. >> With a one-point win over the Rams, that means a lot. We just broke a streak that’s been going on for 30 years. >> This after the Packers pulled off a huge upset. Dallas

Reading in the Cowboys lead pleading offense, holding them to just 16 points until late in the Fort. >> This is one of my most surprises since I’ve been involved in sport period. >> On Saturday in the AFC, a frigid faceoff between the Dolphins and the chiefs conditions in Kansas City,

A numbing negative 4 degrees taking Miami out of its element. The temps taking its toll on Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. I got the answer to the question. Everybody’s wondering, yes, he does know his mustache has frozen. The chill spreading throughout Arrowhead with even the drinks

Frozen solid and fans in the stands feeling negative. 22, including the most famous member of Chiefs Kingdom. Second timber video along with Mama Kelsey Taylor Swift cheering on boyfriend Travis, the famous couple leaving together after Kansas City’s win at home. >> Their 26 to 7 victory keeps the Chiefs surfing toward the

Super Bowl. The atmosphere here was. >> 7. Yeah. That’s the tease kingdom. I mean, it’s negative 30. Whatever it is out here. They’re not. If you see the stands. >> In Houston, Browns quarterback Joe Flacco threw not one but 2 pick sixes. In the 3rd quarter. The Texans advancing

With a 45 to 14 win. 22 year-old CJ Stroud becoming the youngest quarterback to win a playoff game. >> The story of Stroud is just beginning Houston dominant. >> After a blizzard postpone the game in Buffalo Bills, fans volunteering to shovel snow in the stadium.

Those bills fans may be to bring their shovels back to Highmark Stadium. More snow is expected in Buffalo today, though. The winds shouldn’t be is dangerous when they take the field to play the Steelers. That’s what it looked like this weekend. How wild is that? That is exactly why they

Postponed that game until today. >> And then there’s rain in the forecast down in Tampa Bay for Bucs Eagles. If anybody needs any tips on staying warm, I’m your girl. I got to tell you how I managed to make it through on Saturday, guys. I had 8 batteries powering the

Layer of clothing closest to my body from my head to my toes. 2 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, 4 layers of tops. Plus a big down jacket that my little brother said made me look like the Michelin man. When survival is the objective.

Vanity is out the window but there was a game. I did richer was great. I really did feel warm inside. >> The hardest part feel like that. Look, it’s a good one have never gotten that. >> What really killed me, though, was the fingertips,

Even as big and warm looking as my heated gloves were, it was the fingertips that really? Yeah, I think they’re still think there. So, haha, we’re glad you have recovered and you’re now warm and safe. The polling era. >> Mahomes was like where not even a had about. I was like he

Is crazy. What is going on? Kaylee? Wisely bundled up to 4 hours. Just much more. Yeah. I would note the address. Haha. Well, when we come back, shining a light on a special organization on the South side of Chicago that is spreading hope.

>> For the arts. And then later, our series taking off today. One couple shares how they work together to get healthy. We’ll be right back. >> So tell us that finish line in style. News anchors on one wall to you. I love this stuff. >> This morning we celebrate Doctor Martin Luther King

Junior’s birthday and tomorrow is also the National Day of Racial Healing. >> It’s an event created 7 years ago by our sponsor Wk Kellogg Foundation. So today We’re shining a light on one incredible organization. >> That’s right, guys. It is on the South side. Chicago not far

From where I grew up, call the little Black Pearl. Their mission is to heal and grow the community using the arts. >> On the corner of 47th in Greenwood Avenue in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood set up there saying and actually there’s a vibrant community center called the Little Black Pearl

Inside. There’s an art studio and a food and wellness market. Even houses a high school. >> We consider ourselves a 3rd space, a place where people when they’re not home or when there’s not at work. This is a place of belonging, a place where they get to come and have creative experiences.

>> Monica Haslett founder and executive director of Little Black Pearl. Imagine the organization out of her home 30 years ago as way to give back to the young people in her community. We would teach them how to create functional art and then we would teach them how to market and sell that

Work with so many talented students coming through the program. Monica says they quickly outgrew her home in 11 years later with the support of the larger community. She built a permanent place for the organization. We went from 2000 Square feet in my house to 42,000 Square feet here which

>> allowed us to expand programs and to mourn. We do a lot of work that connects to racial healing. >> She says racial healing is part of almost every aspect of little black Pearl. >> If I could intentionally designed something that focused on issues of segregation and separation, if I could build a

Business model that brought people together, could I use that to help be a bridge in a community that’s changing. >> You can see that change in action and the little Black Pearl Art and Design Academy, which exposes high school students to the arts and experience to learning with an

Emphasis on building a better community. All the students say works. Thank you. >> Well, coming into one thing the school makes want to do a lot. So many opportunities here and look at the school impact town need even other kids since the mayor could use.

>> Monica says some of the graduates have come back to give back like entrepreneur and business owner P Johnson who join the program from the beginning when she was just 11 years old. >> First day that I got there, we learned how to spell on.

You know, I was of lifted in a way that now I can give to other people. >> P of continues to give back creating a program for young leaders and entrepreneurs like herself looking to develop and grow their ideas. >> It’s a cohort of like-minded people that have this focus on

Creating a community that is working together in different ways. Little black girl is giving space to that and that’s what it’s all about the space. >> With so many different spaces, ideas and people that are part of this community, Monica says she hopes to create more organic moments for healing, understand and grow.

>> We’re trying to stay in our little corner of the world that we are better when we work together. And when we have the opportunity to really honor everybody’s humanity. >> Monica says she hopes the next generation of leaders spreads these lessons to communities across the country.

She describes it as a place of belonging to a place of belonging and community and growth. What a great difference he’s making there just ahead right here in amazing health transformation in our series. >> Take it off today. How one couple lost more than 100 pounds together.

Then later, fun ways to have a ball during the snow days when your kid is a new world stuck inside. We’re back to some of >> In your neck of the woods, you deserve to be celebrated. >> We’re back now with our take it off today series and this

Time of year, a lot of people are focused on their health. And the couple you’re about to meet may inspire you to stick to your goals. Not too long ago, Ashley Evans and Brandon wrote weighed nearly 500 pounds combined. Then a dream trip

That gave them motivation to make a change. We’re going to meet that in just a moment. But first, here’s their story. >> Friend and I have been married for 2 years throughout the years. We’ve always been active enjoying time outdoors. But that quickly changed when the pandemic hit in

Twenty-twenty. We stay home and in the 3 years since we a lot for me. But weakness was grabbing a bag of chips at night before bed. Any move that for us went out the window in early 2023, I waive my heaviest 260 pounds and I weigh 225 pounds.

We tried different diets but nothing stuck. I had 0 energy and always felt exhausted throughout the day in May 2023, I want to trip to Maui, but instead of feeling excited week of in Paris about how we left, we knew we had to make a

Change. We started switching up our guy eating whole Foods in saying goodbye to snacking. And to our surprise, we saw immediate results before vacation. We have actually joined a gym were actually remains focused on strength training and I’ve become obsessed with pickleball.

In just 7 months. We’ve lost a combined 115 pounds and we feel better than ever. >> All right, guys, again, here’s Ashley and Brennan before this whole health journey and they are here. So let’s meet them now actually running. Come on. >> My goodness. Congratulations, hahaha, to be here.

>> I was so much fun. I know you guys like so many couples have tried to lose weight together before. What was it about this dream vacation that really just kind of got you guys going? >> Yeah, well, the trip was definitely the catalyst for us

To really make a change this time. And but I think our approach is what made the big difference in the past. We would join a gym, try to work out like bodybuilders in 2 weeks. We burn out and we will be done and that the same on

The diet. We tried kind of the mainstream restrictive diets that would that were really hard to maintain. We were doing for 2 weeks and then we were done once again. So it was really hard for us to really stick with it. But Maui got us excited. We were.

Us on this. This lifestyle change. We’re super excited where we’re at. I love that people set goals, but rarely do they follow through you guys to live or on those goals. It didn’t require you to make some important adjustments in the ways that you eat. What were some of those adjustments? Yes week.

>> Like Brandon said, we kept things simple. So we were overwhelmed with anything. So when I would go into the grocery store, I decided to eliminate the middle aisles, which is where I find the cookies for this next foods that we were so overly consuming. And I stuck to the

Outskirts of the grocery store where the fruits, the vegetables, the lean proteins were. And that really did the trick for me to stay focused. You know what, what? >> Food was kind of come into the house. So you guys shopped different. You also play different a little pickleball.

>> Yeah, I know we have enough time for me to talk about and rare of says that this point, I think play 7 days a week and it has numerous benefits from a so it the physical benefits are. It’s my cardio. I I can’t run on the treadmill for 3 hours,

But I can play football for 4 or 5 hours. So it’s amazing to be able to do that and then the mental health and social aspect. So I’m able to get out and meet new people, make new friends and really just have fun. We actually spent Christmas Day with my pickleball partner.

>> This year. So it was phenomenal. So we’re making real friends and having a lot of funds. Life changes. Yeah, absolutely. And Ashley, I know you have type one diabetes. Yes. How has losing weight actually helped? >> In that regard, it’s been a tremendous benefit. I just saw

My doctor earlier this month. My numbers look beautiful. My cholesterol, blood pressure. Everything is down. And I decrease my daily insulin from 50 units to 25 units. So that makes me really happy. And proud. Just with died. An extra just I didn’t exercise. Yes.

>> Talk about the impact. This because it only been married for a short time before he sort of went on this journey together, which I trust only draw you closer. How has this impacted your relationship? Well, it’s been phenomenal. So we’ve been together for over 10 years, married for 2.

And in the beginning, we would kind of blend our hobby so she would come fishing with me. I would spend time at the craft stores. Yeah, but now we have a common goal and we have a common hobby that we’re we’re both working towards. So it’s

It’s really been phenomenal. And then I think the other piece is we really get to celebrate each other. So not only when I had a goal, I could be happy about it. But when Ashley, it’s going, does her first pull up or loses that

Next 10 pounds? We can really be happy for each other and then and accountability partners always helpful with these kind of changes. Yes, if just one of you have done it, if you had that little cooking, it might be a little bit. Yeah. Go. Thank you. Inspire someone to make small changes.

Yeah. You both small changes be consistent and set small goals and you’ll see big result. Pickleball 2 to 3 days a week is enough. Doesn’t need to be 7. Yeah. Whittle this at least 7 days a week. >> Her sharing that story. And if you want to learn more

About Ashley Brandon story, you can just go to today dot com. Up next, a snow day goal. >> Fun toys to pass the time when it’s too cold for the kids to get outside. And later in start today, the right way to do the most popular acts are sizes from squats to curls.

I’m going to embarrass myself and we’re fixing common mistakes will be right back. We’ll just start post your questions. What can fans expect us for getting there? >> It’s a Friday. There it is right here. >> We have already, of course, have several big winter storms. And this is the season.

>> Where things can be tough, a lot of inside time. So this morning we’re going to share some fun ways to stay occupied on some of those long snow days. The toy insider’s at or in Chief Ally Barczewski is here to help us out. I was a

Nice to see you. Nice to see you. Happy snow day. But today is not so that Cold day at which I guess is the same thing right now. Let’s talk about some different ideas here. You can’t go to the beach per se right now, but there are

Other ways to do to build its snow castle as it work. Definitely. So even if you’re in warmer weather not getting that snow. This is the. >> Create a castle built master indoor snow castle kit. So with these mold has a patent blocking this trend can start

Building for me. We’re going to walk out of that Castle. Haha. So they has the patent patent, molds that have these locking systems on him. So instead of having to flip the mold over and hope that your castle stays up,

>> you just unlock them right. And then open it up and you can peel right off the side. There you go. Yeah. They add perfect castle. This was all built with that sets. You can build it all inside of here. You get 2 and a half pounds of

This. He’s ready. That’s what it was. Taped shot. My. >> Cool. Now that yes, the so that they come up perfectly beautiful castles. And so Ali is doing a little baking for U.S. ally, right? What do you baking up for us and how does this work?

>> So this is the cookies may curry and Ali, and I’m going to make some little plus friends actually here. So we’re going to take them to reach around the site is secure little dope house here. So this kit comes with everything that Eliot

Summed mix up her little. Do animal friends going to stick it in the oven? Close it up, turn the dial. It’s going to start a timer for about 90 seconds when the timer goes off and we open it up inside for going to have this interactive. >> Watch how that.

>> I actually sent it. If you want to give it a smell, it’s there. All season from baking treats. Show that once for. Yeah. Haha. That’s a mineral. So this is just a really fun for kids. It’s a big thing that cozy comfort.

Yeah. It’s not an easy bake oven. There’s no heating going on. You can do it over and over again. Hits a year. It got an artist in the family. It like we got McKenzie and Thomas here when he got yes. So this ultimate light board from Kyle

Is one of my favorites, actually. So as you can see, it lights up. You can draw on it. What’s really cool about this? This back pannels going to slide right out. You can trace anything on it. So we trace the today show on here

For you guys. You can drop free hand. All of that comes of these gel FX markers and are allayed aboard here. Double a batteries. What did you hear that? Just batteries? And it has storage for the markers in the back. It’s got 3 light

Settings on its own. Very nice show. Your board skies. Yeah. Haha. Better than having. Like thousands of pieces of paper. That really was what my house looks like. You do it over and over again. Okay. Perfect. And then Kyle. They can play soccer outside that they can do a little indoor

Mask. Yeah. This is the Franklin Sports battle soccer. So they’re going to battle back and forth and you see when they score a goal, it celebrates with those life and my son would love has that story for ages. 6 to nothing, not even

Up. I mean, I love to play with it. So adults as well. Get the whole family involved and got the scoring right in here. So easy to use. Easy to use winningest his eye. He alley. If you do brave going outside. Yeah, look awesome. >> Aren’t they? So these are squishmallow friends rates

Which models are so popular. These are the switch to all snow to some big mouth. We have are 3 friends here. We have Winston the Alfie few, the FOX and my personal favorite Beni of the big but he adorable. So it’s so cute. They’ve got

The starting handles on their durable for cold weather. So the really stick up in the snow. So this is perfect for your squishmallow offense talking about the slow and if you don’t want to go outside and brave the snow, we’ve got a mandate outlooks here have done it. Snowball fight. I love

These. Yeah. So this is one of my favorite games. This is Yeti Snowball. So what they’re going to do is they’re going to flip cards to see how many snowballs they can stack up. The goal is to try to get to 10 C everybody’s going to get in the

Fight here because the if you called the Yeti Snow brought a card, it’s an all out. So Rossi, just the other stocks over with the snowball. You try to get that hands, too, because it gets out aggression and nobody gets hurt and nobody gets that perfect for India. Haha.

>> And super fun. We’re going to post snow balls all over this today. Ali, thank you so much. Appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you so much. All right. Just ahead, it is start today. We are correcting some common exercise mistakes to make sure.

>> You’re getting the most out of your workout. Then later in the week out one of my family’s favorite dinners on a cold night 20’s. So we’ll be right back. a peek out the window I just want to. This is truly a pinch me moment right here at

Fenway Park. We like very much like yourself. >> We’re back now on this holiday morning weekend. Today’s Peter Alexander, Laura Jarrett are with me for. >> Started a workout for us this morning. I did not know this was a job requirement, but here we are. And this time

We’re fixing some common workout, mistakes you may not even realize you’re making here to help us assist us expert and physician Doctor Ian Smith. Glad to see him. Here he is the best-selling author of over 20 books, including The Met Flex Diet.

>> Hello, How are You? Good. Yeah. I mean, a lot of haha need to know how do I need a lot of fears. Here’s the idea for this year and every year some different wanted to exercise our 15 minutes or less. Some people say I don’t have time. I’m I’m too busy.

>> These are simple at home or in your hotel room exercises you can do as I create these 15 minute exercise. You can do so. These are for groups that we’re going to right. The first squats, great squats, work on your quads and work on your

Hamstrings. They were. Your flesh is already going now to make common mistakes, for example, can go down and you see, first of all, her shoulder that around. >> That’s not going to watch your back to back shoulders back. Secondly, for example, her knees are going and you

Don’t want that because that takes away from the contraction of interior at doctors also hurt your knees and last. But she’s not going down low enough. So you want to get down low so they go get sound only sitting in a chair and something that actually break the chair and get down that

Way. You’re getting full contraction of the muscles and they’re doing it safely. Not hurting a little bit outside the legally blonde like snow. You can do this with weight without weights bans. Okay. Okay. So this is our squats. Okay. Got next place. Get off the plane to great.

Great for your core, right? But the key here with your place to your core is engaged. Probably so. He’s got to get down to play position to okay. We’re at something on your shoulder tap now. Here’s the key. People put their but to

Lie which is like this don’t want to do that or they go too low right before they put their chest down to. So you want to be up. You want to show you a nice line running down from the shoulders down to your ankles and then you want to show that

Have something to watch. This is not happy children. Just don’t talk a lot quicker. I get great. Haha. But keep your body a silent hero. See this way. Your core is engaged the entire time to make it look good feel. So if you do

Any of those mistakes from don’t engage the core and you get less of contraction, less to work out. So that is what’s up while you’re playing with shoulder tap. So I still in my time here, you’re going to go here is doing just that.

He’s got this bicep curls. These are great bands. By the way, you can find chained bans because you can change the resistance. Now, here’s the K people like to work on the 3 most air, their biceps. The break, a read-out center breaking, Alice, but you have to isolate. And so people make

Mistakes. The first thing to go too fast, right? That’s going too fast. Don’t go too fast. Align yourself to have it. Contraction going off and the subsequent contracting going down to slow down. Secondly, keep your elbows. Talk to your side. When you talk to almost there you go. That were

Isolating the biceps. The last mistake people make, which is really sad as people sway at the end of the goal here. And that’s why they’re doing it. Stu, having do you want to have your weight so lower way? A little bit. So look at this. We’ve got nice, nice and easy isolates.

The biceps keeps reform together. And this is how it goes into a proper bison. >> You know, face like that, doctor, what’s the value of the chain? >> Yes, so all of these bands are rate because you can actually grab from a different light. Just to have also on my

Website, Fun Fitness pros dot com. You can check. Those are anywhere. Every book a lunge lunches, right? Here’s the key with lunges, guys. The can couple things. One is you want to make sure when you go down that your money does not go

Forward of your toes like this. You don’t want that. So you want you need to stay back. There you go. Nice, Peter. Okay. The second thing is you don’t want your heel. The goal of this is not the proper launch. Okay. No good. So keep your front foot flat

Here. Then we’ll do it and you watch your back foot to be about an inch to 2 inches above the ground because sometimes go too far from home or you go through. Shorten. Not doing the right. So here we go. Ready, opposite arm off. Hold their comeback. Well, the wait, hold it.

And there’s a long, okay, doctor and backwards. Both you can do both and you don’t recommend heels for this, right? What? You can do it with weights with man’s without fans and do it. >> Yeah, there’s rain will hear. Thank you so much.

Scan a QR code or head today dot com slash start today to get our newsletter and join our online community and do better than may not. >> All right. Coming up next since we worked out, it’s of course, time to a good market can make out this morning.

We’re making the perfect winter meal, a tortilla soup that will help warm. Yeah. We’ll be right back. It’s time now for cooking McAllen. This dish is one of my family’s favorite, especially on a cold winter night. It’s a tortilla soup that’s actually inspired by a Mexican

Restaurant. My mama used to go to when she would visit and wreckers. Take a look. >> It’s another edition of cooking with cow. What are you making today? The TSA tortilla soup. I did all the hard work. I chop the carrots. Onions, the celery, the red pepper and the car. Right and left.

This is a key need for good. I was watching thing. There’s you. We have to cook the chicken. The case. A look at what’s in this hot. These are all the scraps from all the other veggies. So now that has some water and the chicken to this policy salt,

We’re going to boil the chicken and fish credit and it will go perfectly in our city. Somebody just put it into these troops. This is what I do. So instead of just boil chicken in water, all the celery scraps and scraps, the carrots craft to add flavor to the chicken is better

Land years later. How layers of I’m hoping we don’t want that to that incident. That’s going to slow. >> We need you to get all the ingredients and I have carrots. salary. And garlic fees brings up the center for a little while longer doing that. She needed 13 district.

It strips. We need to read is up a little bit. OK, what’s the one thing that’s missing are >> These recipes and more than just a dot com slash. >> Dylan, I think I’m almost demolished home will also go so

Glad you like my favorite part is the way you serve it at this restaurant. They would put the avocado and tortilla strips in the bottom of the bowl and the top. >> When pressed today, drone tortillas, just but it’s also it’s not hot like this is the kind of thing that’s not just

Perfect for like a cold winter day. But if your kid is sick or something, yeah, good veggie soup for you. Can you can have a house off? I? Yeah. If you wanted to front, I just know what to leave out for my family. Thank you, guys. Thank you right back. Thanks to count.

As sex life in so many happy our guys tomorrow. The 3rd hour of today after Lucy Hale and that call for LIVE in Studio. One a coming up on Hoda and Jenna, a preview of tonight’s Emmy Awards today to watch some football too. >> Today, fashion influencer and New York housewife side is

Still that brings us for winter. Must haves. It will be the woman inspiring kids to excel at the arts. And Donna’s got a big surprise in store for them. Plus a preview of tonight’s Emmy Awards. >> Studio one a and Rockefeller Plaza with holdout. It all starts

Going to be a good day to you now that I know it’s going to be a good day because she now Jones is here. >> I mean, and Chanel was one of those people. I know you guys probably watch the hour prior to this one is unclear if

I do. But if you do check it out, this girl is like a flashlight that when she shows up in a room, it frightens of that is no crying today, though it happens and there are people who are lit inside and no matter what happens in their life, the light is there.

So we’re happy they’re here, especially on this day on this day, Martin Luther. So you’re going to cry. So can I say something saying he’s don’t? Yeah, of course. Okay. So walking out with you right now. I have like a little

Bit of ash that can tell you why he’s going to put it out there. So as you guys know, ran the marathon course. And there was people who hold up signs that would say all toenails go to heaven for that. My toenails were going to, by the way,

When you run a lot, they do follow it. But my just a little bruised. This is the first time of war in the shoes because they’re delightful. But walking with you just a second ago. But I kind of feel than it is.

I thought that was going. Yeah, I’m so way it’s for one 0nd. When you said the marathon, I just had a very strong, strong memory of standing with your entire family are all really yeah. You’re today show family with signs and cheering and watching you

Do what you did. And I still remember, you put I saw your kids scream in delight, Clara, especially the almost one to run over and tackle you and one by one. Everyone had that same look like our girls. Thank you. Tried to Mara. I tell you my totals in prison,

You go back. No, but I but I just think that was such a that there are defining moments like for your kids. I my mom ran a marathon when she was 16 and I remember watching her and I remember the finish line. I remember running up the hill

Up that you would your memorial. And I remember that I from that day forward. I always thought to myself if she could do that, I can do this. So whatever you taught yourself, excellent. But what you talk to in 2 years as cute kids,

Thank you that that was my that’s my hope. And you know, for me, that was the first time where my world my world came together. You know, when you get married and you’ve got like your college friends and your work, Granger, that was my

Wedding to have you on my corner and Dylan and Savannah and then kinds first baby sitter from Philly. Yes, his in-laws from Nigeria to Chicago to hear that it was everybody was on one corner. So where we are and tunnels are fine because we’re sitting good. How are you going to talk

About? MLK Day is a great day of service. So we just want to shout that everybody take a minute more. We’re telling this to ourselves to something, even just to do something for someone else. It doesn’t have to be sure pain of home or do

Something because sometimes what so to just did for me, you can do that for someone was just wait. Yeah, sweet girl today. But which makes beautiful kids, children are stepping up to it. All right. So there is a bustle article that we saw and it’s it’s entitled this an ode to the

Corner store, my 3rd place. But this kind of interesting, the writer is really kind of paying homage to just a just a corner store, a Delhi, a bodega, whatever super at was on your corner. Do you have one? You know what’s funny? I was just remembering I group in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Okay. And I have some 3 memories of Morgantown, my address there now. Still the house, a house there and somebody was there. My phone number. I remember it because we have to remember home numbers. You remember yours, too. You remember your home. Your first, your first number.

It weird is. So we all remember and I remember because you had to know what, because when you’re out front, there weren’t a million numbers only had to no one. And the 3rd thing I remember is there was a store called Harry super at and it

Was you went down this big hill and there was a tiny store that all the kids loved because there was some candy. And then there are all that stuff. But it was so part of my growing up. But I remember, can we go to Harry’s after-school?

Can we stop any reason? Parents would say yes, sometimes. And those like Mister Rogers neighborhood was like, put your village part of our little Villa. Yeah. What about now? Now? They’re bodegas on the corner right now. The got, you know, it’s like, you know, the guy, you know, the person.

And when I first moved to New York, I remember my mom. Can I sit? It’s 2 big here. I don’t know. Anybody is too big too big. And there’s a, you know, big buildings 1000 people in your building to a CBS nearby. In know anybody for it.

My mom was there for 3, 4, days. >> When she was dentures like, Oh, did you see Muhammad that the book that he knows my coffee and he would hand much by Sami I go. How do you have to know him? >> She knew all the pain. She made a community before she

Left which was setting the table from a marathon. It’s 69 community. Yes. Maybe that she’s quite the rocks. Yeah. Did you have any of those little stores? Yes. And even now in the city it’s become a caught West River Drive. What’s it called was raining. Riverside, Riverside Drive is

My 3rd place. Okay. It’s like you have your work. You have home. But that place is kind of its it’s mine. It’s where our run. That’s right. Go as I think I love it because I said, oh, there is just it speaks to me. Different buildings are lit

And shot. It’s just for you. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes you need that place. I like that. All right, OK? So here’s a story that’s kind of weird and catching a lot of attention because it’s going to resonate with a lot of people. I think

So. This man opened up about a dating dilemma. So we started dating this girl. I was dating for a few weeks and they’re in their late 30’s have been dating for a while. And the guy says the recently as girlfriend has developed a habit,

She’s using a baby voice when they’re alone together. When I heard the producers say this, I thought why. >> Still come up. If he can do, can you? >> Why do you why? Haha? >> The guy says he can’t take it. He doesn’t know if you can take. Did you ever use that?

>> You probably I was a this is kind of different when I got married. >> Have Lily Debbie Allen says Mike Cabbage Patch. Yeah. All my dad. Haha. Okay. And Hamas that I had to get rid of the campus for K that part your child, but she and her husband

With these. Can you please absolutely not making any one time like no, never. I mean, even, you know, people say by Boomer beer, well, that you don’t call him anything other than his name, the family. We just called by saying, No, I’m trying. We’re trying to be better that I could not

Unlike PDA MPD, a person all hands outside. Know it drives everybody in my family. Crazy like my grandma just the other day. She was like, you know, make a huge yeah like that. I just I we’re just not. Did you were you exposed to PDA

When you’re a little know, okay. I sometimes you either do what they did, where you might. You know, it’s funny, my eye. I wasn’t and I’m not. But my parents, if photographs tell the story, you know, you’re like you don’t remember, but kids all over that. They’re like game my mom, my dad.

I still remember the day. My mom like jump to my dad’s lap and we were all like horrified happening in front of a while. But it does teach because you do teach your kids the motion. That’s it. And this is love can look like this.

And it’s like, no, I’m not trying to show you want a corner somewhere like this is from that. >> Matter, done it. You know, there’s no no one time my whole life. >> Have I kissed a guy public? It was. I broke up with the

Chain college towns like and we’re at some random place in Chicago. And you made out with a straight guy. And that was like them. It does show that was the whole time. That was the whole time to stop myself the whole time. Well, what’s so

You are that, you know, I just have because sometimes you just lost in the moment. You can’t believe that it’s happening. You’re in my at a furniture store on a street corner. Welcome for all the information I’m getting America. They call it the departed to certainly and yeah, and you know him,

Too, OK? So know. I’m not tell you this live in New York. You know? Yeah, you know. Okay. So there it is. Guys. A viral hot chocolate that is taking New York City by storm. So local tourist puts it. People are lining up for hours

To get this cup of cocoa. Have you seen it if I have not Syria? Oh, my gosh. I’m so yeah Auld. How do we pronounce it? The law allows law. Are you from blossom? I’m filling in for Jenna Bush Hager. And I think, listen, oh, my God,

I’m so honored. So Sasha, you’re here. These are you guys how that, first of all, how did this come to be? This is amazing and tell us what it is exactly like 2 different hot chocolates. One on the left is our new flavor that were making

Also I like to say, those metaphorical envelopes have been sitting there scaled for 4 months, but the show goes on Monday night. Time for them to get their do that. And yes, yes, state. Yeah. Oh, okay. I’m very what about this secretly? Because I’m like, okay. Well, Anthony Anderson is

Hosting a I think of Anthony Anderson. I think of Tracee. Ellis were also I know is like one of our favorite. I hope she’ll be there, too. But I think he is an excellent pick. A host of he released a statement and I think this is

Going to kind of tell us about his style. He said with our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to doing what we love dressing up and honoring our sell. It’s like that’s the vibe that have fun show. Yes, Mam, too.

So he’s been haha. All right. So we can get to every single category. Let’s break down some of them. Okay. Do you expect first of all, headline a big winner, succession secession. So going into the awards show succession leads the pack with 27 nominations. Is the show that everybody is talking

About. And you know what? It’s up for the coveted award of the night. Best drama series, Pay it. It’s going to take looking at some lead actors that we’ve got. Our big was a very competitive. I’m so happy that you bring up Caylee

Back to the areas. And here’s why. So this category, it’s very special this year to meet any history. We have 3 actors from succession, right, all of for lead. So we’ve got Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong. They’re going to be going up against Pedro Pascal for the last of us, Jeff

Bridges for the Old Man and Bob Odenkirk for Better Call Saul. This is now that this is a great county right now here in Polk and is favored to win. He just on the Golden Globe. Gavin and I were testing about this going on and one if there

Is an upset, expect that to come from Bob Odenkirk for Better Call. Saul was the last time he can win and Emmys. Love doing something like this where the award somebody for their last season it should be Karen’s if there’s not upset

Bob Odenkirk but this is this is one to watch. All right. How about lead actor in a comedy? Oh, I’m so happy that we’re talking about the >> Yeah. That okay. The nominees are we have Bill Hader for Barry. Jason, Segel for shrinking Martin. Short,

Only murders in the building. Jason’s today kits for Ted Lasso and Jeremy Allen White for the bear. So what I want to talk about this because I think everybody needs to be watching the Bears. Have you seen a very I have seen some of the initial

And you won that one. The other one he won the of this is a phenomenal show. Jeremy is going to take it. So if you’re so sure I’m sure he’s going to take it. So if you’re not familiar with the show, he plays a and award-winning chef

Becomes home to Chicago to take over his brothers sandwich shop and his brother passes and there’s a catastrophe every single day. It is some of the best TV I’ve seen in a really long time. And everybody is talking about Jeremy cause of that county’s Callahan added more snow up. There are okay to

Remember, though, that you said that Hollywood like someone who is ending their series yesterday. I know. I know. I love Jason today cause I do. But you also have to keep in mind the timing because we’re talking about last. Yeah, I got to about the mental state that are like 20 homeowners.

Yeah. Let’s do best actress in a drama. Okay. Not much to talk about here. I think succession is going to succession is going have a pretty big sweep. So again, phenomenal actors up, but Sarah Snook succession. She’s going to take it. All

Right. How about a comic series, OK? So what we want to do, the best supporting actress in a drama Happy’s Do this and that is a good one is a very, very exciting category out of the 8 nominees. Also a kudos for you guys to be able to see

That part of the hour. Looking right here, OK? So we have got 5 actresses from the White Lotus out of these 8 nominees, Jennifer Coolidge and for all the on them. So she is favored to win. Now, here’s a with, but there are some people you want

To win because of their performance. You want that for her. But just imagine the acceptance speeches, Funk says words fun again, like that’s what we’ll be talking about that. All right. We think case comedy series. Listen, if we if we pull the nominees, we take anything from this list is just

That TV TV is having its goal know right now that the TV is. So so so good. Keeping in mind voting. I believe this is out of elementary. Still my hopes. I do. I do. Yeah. If there’s an upset or competition will come from the bear, maybe Ted Lasso.

But again, going back to last year. I think I I I feel like this is out of elementary. I like about this award show. We don’t know. We know could get. But that makes it exciting. Yes, you know, because it’s not like a lock in

For everybody like we kind of we get. So, yeah, that’s for sure. All right. Yes, so we love you. Thank you that we’ve got a lot. He will be back right after this. We’ll just start post your questions. What can fans expect us for getting there?
