Yeah look like an airport we’re at Sydney airport and we’ve got about 3 hour wait 3 hours before we fly out 3 hours this is our journey of buying a home in south of Italy in salento the hill of Italy known for its beautiful beaches Sunshine a land steep in

History we bought our house in historic Center of Galatin a small town just a short trip from the beautiful coast of Santa Maria Albano and surrounding towns of galipoli galatina and NAD follow our journey on how we made it possible from Australia to purchase this remotely and the progress of the refurbishment and

Restoration along the Way hello yes we’re here as you can see there’s our street we got a car spot down the bottom we actually dropped our bags and went straight down to conad and got some supplies and we’ve just only walked in the door and we did the place looks

Wonderful it’s nice and clean and fresh yeah we’re actually shocked how clean and fresh it smells from last time we were here going crack that bottle of Veno in a minute oh yeah right red sure that’s a bit early a bit too early all right we’ll sign off for

Now we’re waiting for the furniture arrive this Friday today is Saturday so uh a lot of things just on standby this antique piece is going in our bedroom we need it rewired by electrician um all our lights fittings have arrived but we’re just waiting on the electrician tall boy here it’s extremely

Extremely heavy uh we have to still refurbish it so that one there has not been finished the Wardrobe will actually fit here is just a twoo wardrobe our chairs we actually do have the chairs for here but we haven’t put them out yet outside here one of our plants did

Survive yes we’ve got a chair for each balcony here but that’s that balcony as well that’s it um our third bedroom down there was empty and uh we discovered a secret room above our bathroom and it was just full of rubbish so it is now full waiting for

Counsil we’ve waited 2 for Council to pick that up as again I said bureaucracy here you to have patience everything’s done uh we’ve done nothing to the bathroom except clean it we’re waiting again for the electrician to replace the light fitting but we’ve done nothing here but we are not updating bathrooms

At all this year that’s a big job everything works and is really clean and E it’s fine um so in this room is all the waiting it’s a waiting game this is the room where we had the ceiling exposed now exposed we’ve seen that in previous videos yep we we have our

Beautiful antique table which came in last Sunday it we’ve just put a cover on the lounge so the cover this Lounge is actually that color blue it’s a sofa bed this is a job that Michael’s almost complete started this through the week and then we had a couple of days rain so

We haven’t been able to fin Michael um sanded it all back Pantry Pantry there we painted it all inside there that had to be done yes yes there’s our fridge which came in while we’re back in Australia so very common to have your laundry in your kitchen very common if

Not in your bathroom the very table that we’ll be using in the kitchen Michael actually has this piece that goes on the top there to do all the um dough which is uh food grade Bo and that’s the sea grass matting that we’re waiting for they just s up yeah the oven’s come

In Michael’s learned how to use it I haven’t learned how to use the oven yet some gardening at the moment we’ve got um great little wooden table on and it’s on Wheels so it’s like a trolley and actually opens up um got our lemon tree with lots and lots of

Lemons there like a dozen lemons here uh first thing I did get was our herbs cuz we use herbs all the time so Michael come up with a great idea to perhaps put a nice tile feature on that wall so and here’ll be painting part of

This wall not all the way to the top cuz we want to keep some of the old paint feature we have the air conditioners here and we’ve just had them replaced um they’re more modern and updated yeah and they’re silent can’t even hear that they’re on right let’s head upstairs this is our

Working fireplace the working one the H one is blocked so it’s no longer working um got a little table setting here we think we’ve just found our little Lounge setting yesterday yeah uh we haven’t ordered it uh but we think we’re happy with that one and here we’re

Just putting uh outdoor cushion so you can just lounge around here and relax and yeah have a drink room out here very large 139 sare M on the Flor plan yep we’re doing work I’ve picked up some little knickknacks little fell from the market had those there so we filled it

Started to fill it up with corks no we have not drunk that much wine since we’ve been here not even me so yes I have not drunk that much wine I barely drink wine um and this little yellow ball because I love the color yellow it’s going to take more than 1

Kilo of lemons to fill it up I’ve realized uh and that was a little gift from our guest to match we bought that from the galatina festival they had a lovely Festival this unit came in the same day as the chairs came in Mrs C decided she’s going to clean up the street so she’s Starting there she is working hard How’d you go there well I did Plastics cuz plastic beans goes up on Monday night which is tomor Right [Applause] And one of my favorite things in the town are the church bells just love them what would I do without them I would what time of day it is or night this is see is being the real Italian local cleaning the front door in the street they Do so just when I thought all the work was over I’m at it again I’ve got these nice tiles we Bought okay I got Mr C working today yes Michael’s on strike today and he deserves to be because he did all the toiling yesterday Fin Oh N [Applause] H [Applause] Paradise We You need to go to ah so the babies are Inside we’re here with all our cousins oh okay hello every body oh here we are here we go all the Aussies are together today yeah they’re all here they’re all Here Ready now w [Applause]

  1. Galatina!! It looks beautiful. Did you buy your place remotely from Australia? Do you have family there? There are so many great places in Puglia – next time I have to visit Salento!! Good luck Anne

  2. Very nice, congrats a nice town and lovely Apulian floors, I know this town and area well, good position near Lecce, Nardo, Gallipoli best beaches close by and driveable to great towns around and on both Ionian and Adriatic coasts, that's the great thing about Pulgia you can drive from North to South very easily and experience different Pulgian traditions with different foods etc as well. Pulgia is a hidden gem, Italian's know Pulgia, but still not that well-known by Northern Europeans yet, hope it stays that way, gives a great Pulgian feel!
