#cocktail #aperolspritz #newyearseve

We are coming to you guys here on New Year’s Eve with something a little bit unusual we know that uh a few of you are probably planning on doing some drinking this evening we would never ever do such a thing no definitely not this is dangerous but uh we thought it might be

Fun today to uh make some Italian cocktails full disclosure I have never really been a big cocktail person but this summer I tried uh one Italian cocktail in particular that I came to fall in love with and it sort of changed my mind a little bit and so I think

We’re going to start with that one and then Ava’s going to show me a few that I’ve never had before Italian cocktails are more or less like Italian food few ingredients high quality ingredients mixed in different ways in different proportion and they give you an amazing specs

Of flavor that you can’t make yeah they’re very simple they don’t take a lot of fancy technique or equipment or anything like that just a few good ingredients but but all right well let’s just get into it you want to make the the cocktail that changed my mind this summer let’s do

It to make the Apple Spritz we need proo AOL carbonated water or soda orange and some ice if you don’t know what prco is prco is a sparkling wine from the north of Italy and let’s say that he can it can resemble French champag but it’s better we start with

Some ice I feel like midnight not quite yet not quite yet but it’s like midnight so we need three three parts of prco now we add two part of appol and one part of salt oh shoot we don’t have straws I have an idiot yes pasta straws I’ve had this in

Italy no not in Italy before when I first experienced using pasta as a straw it was uh aa’s sister works at a restaurant an Italian restaurant in London and they served us some drinks and they used pasta as a straw and it works very well it’s important to point

Out the little bit of food we have in front of us because we Italians don’t drink if we don’t eat these are some of our favorite ativo type foods that you’ll often have served to you in Italy if you order a drink potato chips peanuts my personal favorite and olives Chin Chin Chin Chin oh you made a good Appo Spritz I don’t have it they’re not always good no most of the time no and this is why I always stayed away from them up until quite recently because usually the places you order an apro Spritz in Italy are kind of touristy my understanding is

That they tend to add much more too much soda water and really water it down and so you’re kind of drinking you’re like this is not very good because at the end is just water with a little bit of Apper to give you any way the orange a Col but

Then when I had them actually well made by your friend Julia shout out to her from daa I was like oh I see what the appeal of these is and it’s it’s pretty darn good so yeah it’s orangey it’s only slightly bitter plus there’s just a a hint of

Pasta I don’t know where that comes from there just a a little hint of pasta that makes everything better even Ana Spritz now a spritz is very good it comes from the region of Veno but there is another drink that I had and I like a little bit

More than AAL sprits but you never had you want to show Me am I having Deja Vu it seems like you’re making another April Spritz no AR is not an appil Spritz the name of this cocktail is p and it’s traditional from the city of brasia we can Define it like the cousin of the app sprits but the

Ingredients as you can see are different Campari white wine and some saloda and some orange and some orange compari is bitter right Kari is bitter than appol I I guess that because it says bitter on it good guess up it we need three parts of white wine one part of

Campar and part of Aqua the darker moodier cousin of the app Spritz personally I like this more than AAL Spritz because I like compari more than app yeah I’ve never had much compar so this is kind of new for me it’s more bitter than a if you like the

Bitter alcohol mhm you will love comp Chin Chin Chin Chin oh yeah you have the wine you have the compari definitely obviously more bitter from the compari but also a little bit stronger than AO Spritz because your average white wine is going to be stronger than a sparkling white

Wine and then AR we made the normal P but actually in BR you can order also a p Pon yes a bigger one you got to eat something see because otherwise we can’t keep uh drinking let us know if you guys want us to ever do a

Video about the apparao and what it is and how it works it’s kind of a fascinating subject I love appara TV I’ve come to absolutely love them I’ve never heard of a Piro before but I bet that the next one you heard of it and not just you most of you heard of

It see you having a stroke oh no you just had a pon here we are going to make the very famous neoni we need Campari Gan and red vermut we start with a part of G a part of Campari a part of red veros so just equal parts of all Three okay so you okay I’m okay yes the very famous Negroni now I need to be sincere even if it’s Italian even if it as compar even if it as vermouth oh I don’t like gin so for me the Negroni let’s say that is not the best Italian CED interesting because I

Am I am a gin fan I do like Jin this might be my cup of tea cup of very strong tea it’s a good cup of tea it’s a good cup of tea I might need another potato chip Herein hang on give me one to maybe yes so now we can see Chin Chin Chin Chino yeah now we’re bringing out the big guns I love it I like Jin this is my kind of drink now don’t get me wrong it’s not that I

Don’t like because I like it I like negr but let’s say that if I need to choose between all the cocktail maybe this is not my first choice right I’m going to go for a peanut now peanuts are so good it used to be a thing in American bars

That they would put out bowls of peanuts on the bar and it makes so much sense and they kind of just stopped doing that I don’t know why it makes it’s like the best thing to eat do you remember this summer in Calabria last summer in Calabria no I for I completely forgotten

It I was drinking too many negronis yes I remember this summer and do you remember that if every Saga every Festa in the oh so many peanuts so many of peanuts that yeah we don’t call them peanuts obvious we call them okay the official name is arachidi araki then we call or

Cacao cacao cocoa or American nuts not American nuts American nuts not and it’s one of the stable food on at least calabrian tables during Christmas seriously every big Feast meal you have the anti the uh anti Pasto the Primo the first course the sondo the second course and then there’s a pause

Between that and dessert and inevitably bowls of fruit and peanuts come out and everyone snacks on those this is supposed to be a video about cocktails not about peanuts so let’s go back to the cocktails now I said that at the beginning of NE gr that I don’t like gin

But I have a cocktail that doesn’t have gin in it but it doesn’t have gin lots of cocktails that don’t have gin in it see but you use the I don’t know if we would reach the end of this thing we’re not reaching midnight that’s for sure that’s for sure not D the next cocktail uses the same ingredients of the Negroni except we take out the Gin which is good because I don’t like G the cocktail is called Milano Torino and actually we have Campari from Milano and vermo from Torino it’s a very easy and simple

Cocktail and it use the same amount of Kari and the same amount of vermo just just to be clear equal equal parts tast like you use all glass I’m a few drinks in I’m trying to understand your recipe half glass of compar half glass Of in this case we are not going to use any ice but we are going to use half slice of orange what a surprise oh wait there’s orange in this cocktail it’s a stable in the Italian can you think of one that doesn’t have orange an Italian one a

Martini it is not an Italian one it’s not no Martini is Italian but the Martini isn’t isn’t Italian so oh always assumed it was Italian no because if it was it there was the I should have known we’re getting even darker and moodier here now we talk about something this

Is the how do we say the grandfather the father of the Americano cocktail a version of this arrived here in America so when he went back to Italy a little bit changed he became the Americano but so it became popular in America okay because we went to a

Wedding over the summer and there was a bar and they had like their menu of drinks and I saw a drink called a metano and I was reading the ingredients and it was all like vermouth and kapari and stuff like this and I was looking at it

I felt like the reverse of Ava when she like sees Italian food in America I was reading it I was like what on Earth and this is American that makes more sense so it’s popular in America but this is called um Milano it is called Milano Torino

Because compar is from Milano and Torino as the ver Chin Chin Chin Chin o okay now we talk about something because it’s like we don’t have any stranger things to ruin the amazing flavor of compar M together it’s funny because with Jin it’s undoubtedly stronger but this

Tastes much stronger it’s more sweet and more bitter at the same time it’s better it’s like the Pio or any of the compari drinks where if you like the bitter taste it’s good some people don’t like that if you don’t like that it’s probably not for you but I like it okay

This I can see how this this can be dangerous okay I have way too many peanuts and potato chips and olives left in front of me which means you got to make one more AA and Harper for the last one I choosed maybe the most Italian cocktail that you can think

Of are you just going to pour me a glass of wine no I bet that would be the most Italian cocktail Ever oh my gosh it’s the it’s it’s this cocktails extra Italian these is the Triumph of orange in a cocktail the name of this cocktail is Garibaldi now everyone knows who is galdi and for those who doesn’t know who is galdi I don’t know if everyone knows who galdi

Is but I will G Garibaldi we need oranges and C it’s very important that the orange juice you are going to use for this cocktail is fresh orange juice which means that though that pre-made juice in the box or in the botle doesn’t work just me are they dry are you discovering what

Wonderful oranges we have in most of the United States do you see why we buy our orange juice in a bottle which actually I don’t understand because in California there is Orange County in some places they have excellent oranges but most places they’re just pretty pretty dry we start with two parts of

Compari then we need the four and half part of fresh orange juice Why is this called a garabaldi this is called Garibaldi because Garibaldi was one of the men who unified Italy MH so the idea of this cocktail is that we unified Italy in a glass because we put together Campari from the north and orang juice from the south was one of the hero of

The was one of the hero ofo Chin Chin Chin Chin it’s fresh it’s light that’s really good that’s super simple but it’s really good he put together he put Italy in a glass the best of the South the best one of the things that are very

Good in the south is one of the things that they very good in the north it’s a very very good balance you can drink a lot because let’s be honest is completely Del the compar you taste the oranges actually you can drink two or three of these without any problem unlike the Milano

Torino wait a moment no it’s like we we can’t like because Milano Torino has also something to do with the galdi so we have Milan in both yeah campar andar yeah then Torino was the first capital of Italy okay with the SAA okay Victoria Manuel the second the first king of Italy met

Garibaldi Ino said hello king of Italy so here we have all the history of Italy in two glass okay I’m cutting you off I think you’re you’re done uh thanks for watching guys our video about Italian cocktails um I don’t know if we’re going to make it to midnight but um send us

Pictures of what you’re drinking tonight follow us on social media ostagar you put that down you’re you’re this is ranting and raving about garabaldi and whatever his name was before we go a quick shout out to a past Garian who made some fantastic looking loras very nice dub she clearly was not

Five cocktails deep when she made those because she looked They look she look they look beautiful we should say happy New Year absolutely happy New Year happy New Year thank you for watching us during all this 2023 we are very very grateful we will

Have a long here in front of us full of some very exciting things stay tuned any will be Chin Chin Chin Chin happy actually very Baldi we are using Mexican glasses drinking a Garibaldi if you want to be very precise Garibaldi was called the hear of the two

Words of the two what words Wars worlds yes worlds or War World World Health okay because he came not Mexico but in the South America to free South America so this is a cocktail in this glass that unify Europe and America together chin China

  1. Chin Chin! I love a good Aperol Spitz – discovered them on a 2019 tour of Italy with my kids on an orchestra tour. Tonite, it’s gin and tonic!

  2. You guys remind me of a short video of huevocartoons, a Mexican animated production where three characters are filming an ad about stuffing a turkey and end every take with a toast (not bread but drink) and they end up completely drunk. Search it up, it is really funny.

  3. Next video idea, tipsy cooking cook off. Harper vs Eva. Loved this video. Happy New Year to you both 🎉

  4. Hey guys, if you find your citrus fruits to be stingy with juice, nuc them in the microwave. 10 seconds for limes and lemons, 20 for oranges and grapefruits, then roll them with moderate pressure prior to cutting and juicing.

  5. You guys made me get some peanuts and then talked about how good they were, which made me want it more.

  6. Too bad the glasses for the Garibaldi didn't have green rims instead of blue. She could have had the red of the cocktail, the white of the ice, and the green of the glass.

  7. I thought the orange juice in a Garibaldi is frothy from using a hand mixer or spinning it in a juicer?

  8. 😂 You two should make cocktail videos more often. This was delightful. 😊 A very Happy New Year to you both. I find your videos fun, and I think Ava is amazing, both as a cook and a narrator. You're okay too, Harper. ❤

  9. There are so many Italian food content and I already have my ultimate source for that. I watch this channel for her hair. Please do something for your hair. There’s never enough hair content especially for thick curly dark hair. 🥰

  10. I can see Eva likes bitters. Don't know if its available in your area but if you can find it try this….Don Ciccio & Figli Cinque 5 Aperitivo. Its so good I usually drink it straight up. Happy New Year 2024

  11. Poor Ava, not liking gin might be from choosing Ford's gin or any London dry gin – too much juniper! Go for New Amsterdam (actually from California) or their Stratusphere (some juniper) but they are more herbal and citrusy. Aviation is a good, well balanced gin and any of the true Dutch gins (from Holland), especially Jenever or Bols. Northwest gins are truly good, like Wild Roots gin and you can always fall back onto Hendrick's gin for straight-up or mixing cocktails. Happy New Year! And I'm loving my daily Pasta allo Scarpariello. Buon appetito

  12. I have been binge watching your channel for about a month now. And I am not one for making comments online. But I am in love with tipsy Eva. 😂
    Happy New Year!!! 🎉🍾🎊🤩💖

  13. Hey guys! Happy New Year! Great episode! Now we need one just on Italian wines, the types, and what dishes to server them with. I'd love to see you guys do a taste test to compare California wine to Italian wine as well…keep up the good work

Your paisan Al P. from Connecticut

  14. I'm a reefer chiefer and I haven't drank any alcohol in like 7 years……………….so this is the first Pasta Grammar video I won't benefit from lol. If you want to be inclusive you can make a video about best Italian food munchies when you're stoned lol just kidding. 🙂
