2020 Caprera Fortuna Trebbiano D’Abruzzo (!3%) white wine from Italy. Caprera winery was founded recently in 2014…and are producing some amazing wines. This Organic wine is made with 85% Trebbiano & 15% Passerina grape varietals. We bought this wine from our local Co-op YXE for $32 Cdn.
Tasting notes: flavors of honey & apricots dominate the palate. There are lesser notes of stone fruit & pears. Sweetness level is on the lower end of the scale as is acidity. There is a hint of burnt oak/toffee. On Vivino this would be a 3.8-3.9/5 wine and has a flavor profile unique to these grapes. This wine gets a “recommended” from us and would be a fun wine for any white wine aficionado.

We hand-pick in small baskets in the second half of September.
The grapes are de-stemmed and pressed whole.
The must ferments spontaneously in steel tanks.
After bottling, it ages in the bottle for a few months before going on sale.
Fortuna is an uncommon Trebbiano – or rather, genuinely typical in its loyalty to tradition – complex and structured, at the same time fresh and enjoyable.
It is truly an expression of our territory as well as of Abruzzo’s wine making tradition.
It goes very well along with pastas and risotto topped with white, earthy sauces, cheese, poultry, fish, broths, legume soups, but can be enjoyed alone too
