Themes From a Hat #44: Scenes from an Indian Restaurant by Mitch Melodia of Alpha Pegasi

A spin on a classic! “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” is arguably the opus on Bill Joel’s album The Stranger. Front to back this album is loaded with great song after great song. The title to the song ending the first side of the album provided the inspiration for this theme. An earlier theme that came up was “Walking down a busy street in India,” so I tried to have a different feel and approach to this one while still adding an Indian flair. Getting to live in that country for a few months was an eye-opening privilege. I love that country a lot; it’s beautiful, colorful, hot, full of incredible music and art, and is one of the birthplaces of the origins of meditation and yoga. Then there’s the food! That was one of my favorite parts of living there, living like a king dining on these delicious meals that costed usually at most a couple of dollars (at one point a friend, guide, and I ate until we were full and some for a little over fifty cents). I did my best to capture some of the magic here. Hope you enjoy this!
