Italy house renovation and expensive building quotes problems explained.

Thank you for watching and continuing to support my ‘trying to live in Italian lifestyle journey’ channel. With all of the delays and curveballs that are landing recently, I think I need to change things and turn turn up the burners! 😎

I may take a break from the comments for a while but will still look at all your emails and DMs from Instagram. I am taking calls to discuss your projects so message me through my website if you are interested in setting up a video call.

Cheers,
Richard.

  1. A glimpse of progress, or at least a deal brewing. 🤞

For those interested in coming to help out, I am looking at dates through September. The job list will be wide and varied. Maybe paint the house and sort the shutters – that sort of thing.

If you are interested, please email me and I will put you on the list to share the details with as soon as I know more.

Thanks all. I loved all the support from the last video – the 99.9% of you are too kind!

    Cheers,
Richard

  2. Richard why dont you fix your beautiful egret your mom gave you n put it right in the middle of the trees symbolizing your family ..would look lovely.

  3. I highly doubt Italian laborers know or care about you having a YouTube channel (in English) 🙄

  4. Nice beer by the fire 👍 Can't beat it. I hope you don't finish it in 2 years ! What the hell am I going to watch if you do !!! 🤣 Nice one Rich

  5. This property needs years of work, and you don’t even plan to live there long-term. Unless something changes, it’s not going to work.

  6. Hola Richard…. I'm no buikder, architect or designer, just a woman…. But. at 57 we upped sticks , lived completely off grid, no water, electric or a single mod con. All this in a tiny. one room cabin, for 6 years. Then built a stunning 4 bed Villa …. After 10 years living in that & by this time early 70's , we sold up and bought an old Spanish Casita unlived in for over 20 years, and did a huge renovation….. So, forget age, but think I've mentioned before, keep it simple. The house, land and Italian lifestyle lends itself to that. Simple, beautiful, slightly minimul, with home comforts…. Take care, love Patricia ❤

  7. Richard, if it will save you money….simply don’t tell roofing contractors you film you tube &dont film the roof “in action” rebuild/repair…you can simply keep a journal of work that transpired and verbally tell us and show us us progress after the crew has left for the day. What about importing workers from the UK? I know it is a lot to manage not only finding the workers, navigating the language barrier plus getting the sign off on video rights etc. you could also just take still photos without showing any of the workers…and insert into video?you do what is best for you!

  8. I reckon none of the builders want to be on Youtube as they probably don't declare all that they are earning, this is common in Italy. You get two prices, with and without fattura. If everyone can see what they're working on, they have to give you an invoice, whish means they'll have to pay a lot of tax, which they all want to avoid….it's too public for them.
