In the second of my pre-release tastings of the wines of Tenuta San Guido I looked at Guidalberto. It is important to realise this is not a second wine of Sassicaia. For a start no Merlot goes into Sassicaia so that portion of the wine can only come from dedicated plots of vines – increasingly this is now also true of the Cabernet Sauvignon. From 2026 Guidalberto will be produced in its own dedicated winery, further underling the cfact that his is a stand-alone wine
rather than a second wine.
