This was my first stop in Kerala — the city of Kochi.
I arrived at night, a bit disoriented, but definitely excited the food.

My Kochi food list included a visit to some Indian street food classics, such as a veg tatthukada, a heavy local breakfast with mutton curry, time spent in toddy shops, and a long Onam sadya eaten by hand from a banana leaf.
If none of this makes sense yet, that’s fine — just watch the video.

Meat really stood out in Kochi.
There’s a kind of trifecta you see repeated across the city: curry, roast, and dry fry.
Three ways of cooking meat — from the most saucy, to the most reduced.

The dry fry was my personal favourite.
Spices cooked down until there’s no sauce left, just a paste clinging to the meat itself.
Simple idea, intense result.

  1. Finally using your hands on it – I am subscribing ❤
And I should definitely say you are every dish in the right way in the way you're supposed to eat it! I hope your taste buds really treated that well as well. This should be a reference video for guests who visit Kerala for the way your Kerala food shall be eaten! Kudos❤❤

  2. Eating junk regularly caused severe bloating and gas. Kabaj Mukti Capsules from Planet Ayurveda helped detox my system and improved bowel movements naturally.

  3. So there weren’t restaurants per se in India . More like packed lunches. And hotels/lodges were just stays . When the British came they started hotels with restaurants in it . People would go to the restaurant in the hotel. So many eateries and restaurants popped up they named them hotels

  4. Dosa, vada and chutney you are eating is a common breakfast for South India, and Kerala is very famous for the fish dishes and "yes" the meat is also cooked a bit differently like you will see similarity with the SriLanakan cuisines. Kerala, I will come one day just to stay here for 1 month going about eating adventure. 😅😂 Enjoy😊

  5. I really really like the narrative calm style of foodblogging you are finding here…

I watched some of your older stuff and its way more the usual loud and hyperbolic Mark Wiens-Style of foodblogging everyone on social media does. In your last videos and especially this one you are finding in to a calm and narrative style that´s unique and that people also really enjoy.

Keep going in this direction – me and i think a lot of people will be faithful viewers!

    Thank you

  6. Wow. Someone with an eye for detail ❤. You covered better than some of the Indian content creators. I am definitely hitting one of the Toddy joints next time that we usually tend to avoid due to over zestful characters 😂. Seemed harmless enough.

  7. I love Keralam…. Never been around so welcoming people , well educated, high civic sense, well balanced.. I just wish more industries n job opportunities arise , better tourism, more FDI an become more open to other investors ❤ gods own

  8. Natuli or Natali as we call it in Fiji is fresh Anchovies deep fried. Sardines are slightly bigger fish and white bait as they have it in New Zealand is smaller.

  9. IN KERALA FOOD IS CONSIDERED FOOD.Hindus Christians Muslims all eat meat.there are vegetarians who don't eat meat or beef but nobody judge or stops OR FORCE anyone.FREEDOM IS HERE.and Idiyappam is normally round in shape

  10. In North Kerala even during Onam we eat meat. Nothing to be ashamed of as in North India. Who cares haters anyway.

Yes we call restaurants Hotel 😂😂😂 it's funny, don't know why

  11. South India is the region of Karnataka and Kerala on India’s southwest coast; and Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana (of which Hyderabad is the capital) in the southeast. The cuisines of all of these states are found in London. For many people in Western countries, South Indian food is rapidly becoming their favourite — its lightness as compared to the thick gravies of North Indian dishes; its focus on vegetables, beans and grains; its quick sautés and stir-fries that give the dishes freshness, vibrancy and crisper textures, all of which are aligned to contemporary tastes.
