I invite you on a fascinating journey through the sun-drenched hills of Italy! Together with me, you will discover the magical world of Tuscan wines, where every sip is steeped in centuries of history and unique character.

We’ll start with the basics: I’ll explain why Sangiovese is the true soul of the region and what local names it goes by. To help you feel confident in any wine boutique, we will break down the Italian wine hierarchy – from the flexible IGT to the prestigious DOCG. You will find out the real difference between Chianti and Chianti Classico and learn the secret behind the “Black Rooster” symbol on the label.

I’ll pay special attention to the aristocrats of the wine world: we’ll discuss the legendary Brunello di Montalcino and the fascinating phenomenon of Super Tuscans. The highlight of our journey will be an exclusive tasting of the iconic Sassicaia 2004. I will reveal the secrets of its incredible longevity, its complex flavor profile, and suggest the perfect gastronomic pairings to elevate your experience.

Watch until the end to truly immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the real Italy, where tradition meets innovation and every bottle tells a unique story!

  1. 2:59 there is one extra MGA Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva, adopted, for now, only in Barolo and Barbaresco wines. On top of all DOCG regulations, the MGA establishes that only grapes produced in the MGA area can be used for that specific wine. As in example, only grapes grown inside the Asili vineyard can be used to produce a bottle of Barbaresco Asili. I wish they started to use the same method in Tuscany too.

  2. Great video as always Anya! I was fortunate enough to have my first bottle of Sassicaia, 2015 vintage, at the weekend. It was fantastic. Hope you enjoyed the 2004 🍷🍷
