Lazio is where this all started for us.
We came here to learn recipes, the Roman classics, the everyday dishes, the food people grow up eating. But this region gave us a lot more than that.
Our journey begins in Monterotondo, just outside Rome, Teo’s hometown, where his grandmother Nonna Anna still lives. From there, we travel through Lazio meeting Nonne, families, and locals who have been cooking the same recipes for decades. No measurements. No shortcuts. Just instinct, repetition, and tradition.
Lazio is home to some of Italy’s most iconic food; many of the dishes people think of as “Italian” are actually Roman. But behind those recipes are real kitchens, real people, and stories that don’t get written down.
This region will always remind us why we started anana in the first place.
And it definitely won’t be the last time we’re here.

Nonna Anna and her marmalade. 🥰🥰
OMG – Guys, this just broke my heart open in the best way possible. Such memories of my own Nona and learning to cook by her side. She was from a little village NW of Torino (Aglie) and "all the things" that you said make the tradition, community and cucina "real" were so deeply true. Thank you so much.
Such a well put together and fun video to watch!
