Romanticising Winter in Italy: Keeping Cosy after Christmas

January in Italy feels completely different to the festive rush of December. The villages grow quiet, the mountains feel closer, and everyday life slows into a softer, more reflective rhythm.

In this video I’m sharing how I reset after Christmas and romanticise winter in rural Abruzzo, from cosy home rituals and homestead life to winter walks, simple Italian food and gentle evenings by the fire.

This isn’t about productivity or dramatic change. It’s about finding beauty in the slower season, embracing the cold days, and creating small rituals that make winter feel peaceful, nourishing and meaningful.

If you love slow living, rural Italy, seasonal living, and cosy winter routines, I hope this video brings you a little calm and inspiration as we begin the new year together.

Thank you so much for being here and for sharing this season with me.

  1. Another lovely video, Bella! What great ideas for well-being over the long winter months that really made me feel revived and cosy just thinking about them. You're right about the effect of light which is so uplifting in these dark days and how a little outdoor exercise makes the world of difference. Brilliant!

  2. Ciao Bella…

  3. I so agree with you on the decorations and the overall feeling that comes with taking them down. I didn't take mine down until the 7th and only with a lot of hesitation lol. And I have to say the outdoors with the snow was quite romantic looking, very beautiful! Completely different when it snows where I live (NY, USA) lol.

  4. What a lovely video as always. My plan is to try pasta making with the pasta machine that i was gifted. Also, my 10 year old has been wanting to learn to crochet, its hard to find a good video to follow and learn from so that will be another challenge 🙂 Thank you as always Isabella 😍

  5. Ciao Bella! Loved your new cosy look for the lounge room! I totally agree with you and when I told my mum that the tree had to come down yesterday (11 Jan) she said…oh but I love it there so much…hence it's up and might come down today??? Who knows? The decorations truly do lift our spirits and it's always sad to remove them. I don't do bucket lists anymore…I used to but now I fill my days with so much that I don't feel I need them. I'm always planning something and I push David to go out walking almost every day, so I agree that getting outdoors is essential to our wellbeing and happiness. Get that Vitamin D! Sending big warm hugs to you all, Marisa 🥰🤗😘PS: I just posted a Cotswolds vlog that you might like…very cosy! 🥰🤩

  6. Wow so love your home ,can I ask ? Have you thought of putting up a lovely pair of curtains in front of your door 😀? Would be so cosy ❤

  7. Bella, this is so beautiful! Planning out the moments to look forward to. Love all the things you highlighted. Light especially or lack of light and the things you do to change your reality of darkness. Thankyou!🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯
