A Walmart in San Antonio is expected to receive major upgrades before the end of 2026. Residents of the Stone Oak area will soon enjoy access to fresh Italian cuisine at the same location where they shop for groceries.
The glow-up is headed to the store at 1515 N. Loop 1604 E., near Hollywood Park. Routine trips to the business are being improved by the addition of Dalmoros, a restaurant offering a build-your-own-pasta concept. Only six such restaurants operate in the U.S.
Created by Italian-American David Caruso, who was inspired by “small, local pasta shops serving fresh pasta in a quick, casual setting” in Europe, Dalmoros lets visitors pick their noodles, homemade sauce, and toppings, which range from breaded chicken cutlet to meatballs to smoked pancetta. They prepare the selected meal in front of customers and serve it in to-go boxes for convenience.
“We really wanted to get into Texas as it’s one of the largest markets in the entire United States. After that, choosing our first Texas location was easy: San Antonio is one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in America with demographics that match our customer base,” Caruso told MySA. “Lucky for us, most people like pasta (ha), but we really find success with families, young professionals, students, and an active community – San Antonio hits the mark with each of these.”

Ilene Lieber, owner and publicist at Passion PR Consulting, says crews began working on-site the week of Monday, October 19, and the brand hopes to open by Thursday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Day).
Folks will find it near the left entrance inside Walmart. It is replacing a former McDonald’s and will renovate roughly 2,100 square feet of the space. Project leaders are investing $100,000 in the renovation, according to a state filing.
Other perks at this location include a sushi bar and an in-the-works Dunkin’ location.

The menu will feature several lunch specials and combos, allowing guests to mix and match half pastas, sandwiches, or salads. Build-your-own pasta bowls will range from $7 (half-sized, not a combo meal) to $10 (half-sized, includes a breadstick and a drink), according to Caruso. Full-sized bowls will range from $12 (not a combo) to $15 (includes a breadstick and a drink).

“There’s something for everyone and enough variety that you’ll be able to try something new every time you come,” Caruso said. “We will also be selling our fresh pasta bagged, which is made on-site daily, and containers of our homemade sauce, so you can grab something while shopping and have a fresh, delicious, and quick meal at home.”
The Alamo City location will also be the first to feature Pinza, an Italian flatbread.
“Think pizza, but with more options than just your typical cheese and pepperoni – one of our featured Pinzas will be our Prosciutto Honey Pinza, made with prosciutto, Alfredo, honey, and mozzarella cheese – it is absolutely delicious,” Caruso told MySA.
Online records show that the Walmart store at 1030 Norwood Park Blvd. in Austin is also adding Dalmoros this year.
