Manhattan of Tuscany is such a fitting name. If you go there in summer you will surely find more Americans than Italians there. Is it mandatory for American tourists to visit San Gimignano?
I really enjoy about 1 out of 3 Vernaccia I try. They can develop this citrus and hay-like savor which is great.
Tuscan Vermentino is another one.
Matthew, maybe some day a Sardegna vs Liguria vs Tuscany Vermentino video?

Of course there's great whites in Tuscany (and Umbria too). The reds are so iconic, rather like Rioja, many people don't discover the fine white wines. I've travelled in Tuscany and Umbria many times and you have to take the plunge and experiment a bit with stuff you're unfamiliar with. I also do business with a fantastic wine merchant in Wales, who also happens to be a Master of Wine specialising in Italian wine. He's put on to some gems.
