Red carpet treatment
The NAFA Film Festival opens Friday, Aug. 7,at the California Theatre in downtown San Jose with Red Carpet and International Awards Night, followed by film premieres, masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions and meet and greet opportunities with film makers and celebrities from Bollywood.
The theme for this year’s South Asian and international cinema showcase is “Honoring Her Canvas,” pays tribute to women creators whose artistry shapes the world of film, culture and community.

Little Italy San Jose’s fifth annual “Boss of the Sauce” tournament is set for Sunday, Aug. 16, noon-4 p.m., when eight Italian restaurants will compete for the title of best sauce. Participating restaurants offer their signature sauces for tasting—pasta included—and attendees vote for their favorite. Cocktails, beer, wine and soda will be available for purchase from the Italian Cellar.
