Home cooks looking to elevate their pasta game are invited to roll up their sleeves for Knead to Know: A Hand-Shaped Pasta Making Class on Wednesday, August 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the BriarPatch Grass Valley Community Room.
Led by Italian-trained chef, food educator, and writer Michael McGrath, the hands-on class will teach participants how to make fresh pasta from scratch using simple tools commonly found in home kitchens.
Guests will mix, roll and shape an eggless vegan pasta dough into traditional Italian favorites like garganelli, pici, and orecchiette while learning techniques they can easily recreate at home.
“One of the best parts of hosting classes like this is seeing people discover that making something from scratch doesn’t have to be intimidating,” said Katee Crimmel, Community Engagement Coordinator at BriarPatch Food Co-op. “Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or trying fresh pasta for the first time, this class is a fun opportunity to learn a new skill, connect with others and leave inspired to keep creating in your own kitchen.”
Each participant will take home the pasta they make during class, along with a complimentary gnocchi board to continue practicing at home. Admission also includes a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival, with non-alcoholic options available.
The class is open to all skill levels. Tickets are $45 for non-owners and $40 for BriarPatch owners. Space is limited to ensure plenty of hands-on instruction.
Please note this class uses wheat, and dietary substitutions are not available.
