

Long story short… dad is from Italy, I grew up in a pizza shop somewhere between Philly and New York. I worked there as a teen and after college, but basically grew up around pizza. A lot of it. I went the corporate route after college bc I had the opportunity, and I saw how hard the business was on my family.
The pizza shop closed last year after 49 years. Really bittersweet… it was my childhood and supported multiple first generation families. But it was also really hard, stressful, tumultuous. Imagine something like “The Bear” season 1.
Haven’t made pizza in awhile, but my fiancee made a sourdough pizza dough this week, and it came together on our pizza stone. I haven’t worked with this dough before so would have liked a nicer char on crust, but texture was good and I had fun.
First pie is pepperoni, hot honey drizzle, low moisture mozz, stracciatella, Pecorino Romano. Second pie is sliced meatballs, stracciatella, and fresh basil.
