@daniellegrobman At least she chose VIPS On a real note, it took moving out to Spain to realize not every diner does all day breakfast. Every diner I went to in the US had the breakfast menu, but it was known that if you asked and they had the ingredients they would do it no matter the time I guess Spain humbled me in this regard. #humbled #cultureshock #lunchbreak #american #madrid

But also about pizza… if you use a knife and fork, you do not cut it across! You make your way into the pizza, bite after bite (since you won’t eat it by the slice). In fact, I would find it hard to cut it fully in half, unless you are sharing with someone else.
16:16 that's a lie….if i order a pizza here at new york pizza in the netherlands or at domino's i always have sliced pizza
Is communication a crime in the US? If you don't know how something is eaten because you don't know it: Politely ask. If your Pizza comes as a whole and you really never learned to eat with fork and knife and have no clue why these magical items are there beside your plate: Politely ask them to cut it for you. You want Ice and/or a slice of lemon in your water: Ask politely and in 9/10 cases they will fix it for you. This is really not a hard concept. Could it be – and I am just thinking loud here – that a lot of americans are entitled personalities who automatically assume the whole world is only about them and their feeding habits?
The "Pizza in Italy" segment hurts so bad, and I'm German… Knife: right hand, Fork: left hand, no changing, – yes: self cutting, eat it like civilised people, not like slop served in some third rate fast food place!🤣😅
Pizza is uncut because traditionally it would be folded over in half, and the half again. This is called pizza a libretto. It was done so it could be wrapped in cloth or later on paper, and eaten on the go. It's one of the reasons Italian pizza has such thin crusts as well. It was never really meant to be cut up.
I envy you, guys, you have this Mexican food, I tasted it once and it was sooo delicious, but here in Europe, Mexican food is a luxury stuff, and I can´t afford it right now.
Using a fork and knife is doing things differently in countries?😅. Good job they didn’t visit a posh restaurant or go to banquet and were faced with cutlery for soup, starter, fish, meat, dessert, cheese courses, and the many glasses for different types of drinks on the table setting! Heaven forbid they had to deal with a napkin and a finger bowl. Come on don’t make excuses for bad table manners. If your meal comes with a fork and knife isn’t it safe to assume you eat it with those pieces of cutlery? Do those girls think that the cutlery supplied with a meal is just for looks?
some food in EU is subpar like Spain, never liked their food, bad quality in most of restaurants also got food poisoning even their fast food is bad , frozen fries,, expired meat in some cases I had to ask for a "reembolso" don't recommend going to Spain if u like eating u might get lucky with some restaurants but fast food is absolutely dry frozen and horrible
If you ask the witress kindly, they can slice it in the kitchen
Cesar salad was invented in Mexico…by an imigrant italian chef :)))) the irony…
They never slice a pizza? No you use a knife and fork!
And plz take your hat of when seated at a resturant espesially indoors. Is the sun bothering you? And remove your sunglasses when ordering or trying to make contact.
The Caesar salad was created in 1924 by the Italian-born restaurateur Caesar Cardini, who owned and operated a restaurant in Tijuana.
Restaurants in Italy will begrudgingly precut pizza if you have a very young kid at the table and ask but it’s something you need to do at the order phase, it’s never done automatically. The phrase to ask/beg for it is “Può tagliare la pizza per il bambino a spicchi?” Spicchi=slices
Little tip for slicing pizza in Europe: Just kindly ask them to slice it when you order. Simple as that ! 😁
02:54 Imagine Japan then! They dont eat their belly full, only about 60% ish!. I eat only 2-3 times daily, no snacking no no! No soda since 26 years, kid barley touch it even if they are big now oki longer than me also!
Kid's menu is often cheaper, even when you consider portions are smaller, than what is on rest of the menu. It is to encourage families to come. Therefore restaurants are usually unwilling to serve kid's menu iteams to adults. BTW. I can understand that some Americans don't like OG cuisine. US versions of European food is overall sweeter and lets say… flatter in taste profile, more… blender like. While OG food may even use the same ingredients but they are distinguishable in taste.
😂 How fun is to see the difficulties you guys have here in Italy. Honestly for us cutting our own pizza is part of the magic. We have already cutted pizza, but I'd say that is different for us: cutted pizza is an "on the go" pizza, at restaurant we like to cut our pizza. Someone cut in small slices, some in 4 part, some eat the pizza with fork and knives in small bites. We have at least 3 major styles for pizza (neapolitan, romans and contemporary), plus at least 4 style of pizza-like. Honestly we are maybe one of the best people in Europe to ask how we locals do things. It is fun to try and don't be judgy. And please in city like Rome do not fall for tourist trap, I feel ashamed when you are treated bad. Yep, traditionally we rarely use cheese with seafood, there are even historical reasons for that, but it is not a taboo. On some traditional dishes it simply something we never do and sounds strange to us. I know that some "american" food here are totally different from there. I ate a cheesecake from an america friend: they have a completely different taste from our, for us it is simply too much aggressive its taste.
this is stupid if people want ketchup or cheese give them…if want steak well done also…in romania if i get a pizza to share i ask to get it cut and i am sure if cook dont want to the waiter will cut it alone in the back because he wants that 10%…even if he spits a little on it..
Seafood and cheese are like bread and butter. Delicious
Pizza is a fcking waste of an effort.
09:28 No no it was in Turkey before, gobble gobble and it was in a square. Italy made it round! Italy was and is in the perfect spot to get new influences since long time ago! Many food and spices come from far east! And this is an european perspective! USA was not anything, well Vikings was there !
Btw they can cut pizza for you in Italy, I often ask for it but its something mostly done for take out, never really at the restaurant at least if you order one pizza per person, there's also the option usually reserved for parties to share pizzas and have a few at a time at the center of the table in which case they usually cut them
No worries. You won't starve. There isn't a small town in Europe that doesn't have some kind fast food takeaway, or burger joint… McDonalds, KFC, Burger King are all over the place (and it leaves the nice spots free for the rest of us).
I'd say if you asked a nonna for a precut pizza you'd get something like "you want I should eat it for you aswell eh?"
Pizza in Italy is eaten by tearing parts of it.
5:40 Latin America has really good food so it is quite common to see latinos miss their traditional food when travelling. Another thing they usually miss is AFFORDABLE fruits/meat dishes
I’m in Italy right now and comes sliced, because we ask when placing the order.
