Of all the beautiful estates I visited in Bordeaux to taste the 2025 en-primeur wines, one of the most picturesque is Chateau d’Issan, a 3rd growth in Margaux. The beautiful setting in the southern Medoc is where the Cruse Family have for 80 years crafted some of the Margaux appellation’s most elegant and perfumed wines.
Looking for charm and perfumed elegance I actually found the wine quite well structured and likely to reveal its perfumes as it develops. Paradoxically the wine’s tannins are supple and without astringency, thus I believe the wine will very quickly become accessible and ready to drink.
In terms of a score I rated this wine 94-95/100

“Conservative score”?
LOVE d'Issan. It's the wine that got me into wine. Still has a special place in my heart.
