Ingredients

For the meat sauce:
1 kg ground beef
2 carrots, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 large onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
½ cup white wine
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 L passata (tomato purée)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tbsp tomato paste

For the white sauce:
1 L milk
3 tbsp flour
400 g cheddar cheese (divided)
500–600 g mozzarella cheese (divided)
Dash of nutmeg
Black pepper
Salt
Lasagna sheets

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1.Heat a large pan and cook the onion for 2 min. Add the garlic and cook onions softened.

2.Add the ground beef and brown it.

3.Add the carrots and red pepper. Mix everything together.

4.Add the diced tomatoes then pour in the white wine. Let it boil a few min.

5.Add passata and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 10–20 minutes.

6.For the white sauce, whisk the flour into the cold milk until smooth. Transfer to a saucepan and heat medium heat while stirring continuously.

6.Once the sauce begins to thicken, add half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Season with a dash of nutmeg and black pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.

7.Assemble the lasagna:
• Thin layer of meat sauce
• Lasagna sheets
• Meat sauce
• White sauce
• Cheddar & mozzarella
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.

8.Finish with a generous layer of cheese on top.

9.Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 390°F (200°C) for 30 minutes.

10.Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes, then broil for a few minutes until the cheese is golden.
