Florence shopping guide for travelers looking beyond tourist markets and souvenir streets. In this episode, I’m taking you to the hidden shops in Florence most visitors never find – historic perfumery, handmade leather goods, artisan workshops, and authentic local experiences. If you’re planning a Florence trip and want to know where to shop in Florence, start here.
Most people searching for shopping in Florence end up in the same crowded areas. But the real character of Florence lives behind quiet doors, inside family-run boutiques, historic ateliers, and workshops where craftsmanship still defines the city.
In this Mediterranean Diaries episode, we visit AquaFlor, a celebrated Florence perfume house inside a historic palazzo, where fragrance is still created by hand and private consultations turn scent into something personal. We also step inside Alberto Cozzi, one of Florence’s historic binderies, where leather journals, travel diaries, albums, and custom pieces are crafted using traditional Florentine techniques.
If you’re building a Florence itinerary, searching for hidden gems in Florence, wondering where locals shop in Florence, or looking for unique things to do in Florence beyond the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio, this episode offers a more authentic side of the city.
Florence reveals itself in layers. The deeper you go, the more unforgettable it becomes. These are the places travelers remember long after they leave Italy.
And the journey continues. Next, we head into the Tuscan countryside to Montepulciano and one of the most extraordinary historic wine cellars in Tuscany.

If you were shopping in Florence, what would you be most excited to bring home: a custom perfume, handmade leather goods, or something else entirely?
I was in Alberto Cozzi in November. Just happened upon it. Got a wallet. The lady in your video was so nice and hospitable. Highly recommend!
They have a special leather shop there. There is also a nice staionary shop. The crafts (handmade) are phenomenal. We ate at a quaint cafe. Food was so good. I loved every minute. Thanks much for sharing.😊
Я прослезилась. Как же мы должны ценить все то что делает нас людьми, стремиться к лучшей версии себя💖
Hello Anastasiya!❤I wish I knew about the perfume shop when I visited Florence. And who knew that perfume lingered longer on (natural) brunettes!🤣I’m curious what scent was created for you if you can describe? Looks like you really enjoyed the shopping experience! Thank you for sharing!🤗
