Caroline 0 ❌ Mary 1 🏆

The Other Bennet Sister offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Stepping out of her sisters’ shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way.

  1. good to see mr.hurst getting a spot of attention and being treated as a human instead of furniture

  2. Caroline Bingley is the definition of a slow learner…. She was unable to defeat the Bennett sisters to stop her brother’s marriage and to marry Darcy herself… and she tries again with Mary?

  3. I have a question on a character in episode one:
Is the maid or housekeeper the original Mary from the version with Colin Firth in it.
I’m sure she is. If it is that’s very cool.

  4. I went to college with a girl like this. She never found anyone boring, simply asked the right questions and then listened. Brilliant.

  5. I love this clip. Every shy person should watch this. The way to fill an awkward interaction is to draw another person to talk about what interests them. I’m going to try this!

  6. I don’t know about this because is it really true that she found his story that’s funny, or was she acting a little bit?

  7. Here Mary gives us a masterclass on "how to win friends and influence people." And consequently how to beat the mean girl at her own game and make the men swoon.

  8. This series is supposed to be coming to britbox. In June and I cannot wait to see it. I'm going to have a food fest party with my sisters so that we can all watch it at the same time. This is the kind of programming that is just wonderful. It takes the original story and just melts in little pieces that we figure Jane Austen would have put in. Mary is an overlooked character which should never have been overlooked. Her intelligence, her graciousness, and her savvy is a credit to her whole family. Even if her mother does not see it. This is the diametric opposite of what they just recently did with Wuthering Heights. This is intelligent heart warming, and I can't wait to see it.

  9. Please tell me that this will be available somewhere we can watch this from Germany, I need to see this show so badly!

  10. Mary demonstrated to all the table that she was congenial and kind and capable of making even the grumpiest people feel good about themselves. And everyone noticed.

  11. NOTICE. Mr. Hurst is COUGHING. A LOT. Wasn't he the one Mary warned about eating those nuts? 😅

  12. Very funny and Mary is smart to ask the gentleman what he likes, so she gets buried in the tiniest details the man can come up with. I, too, love the share ideas and thoughts with all kinds of people.

  13. It's nice to see that Lucy Briers, who played Mary in the 1995 version of Pride and prejudice, is now playing Mrs Hill the housekeeper in this series.

  14. The way this makes him seek her out to give her betting tips later on in the series too, and she genuinely appreciates them… kindness and curiosity means you can make a friend anywhere <3

  15. Caroline Bingly is ugly inside and out. How skillful of Mary to ask Mr. Hurst what interests him. I would have deeply agreed with Mr. Hurst about the quality of horses and of my great love of Friesian horses, how they are intelligent and SO beautiful they brake my heart.

  16. I must say I never watch BBC or have any interest in genteel airy fairy dramas but this clip aroused my curiosity and binged watch it all last night . ❤
