The UK road trip in the VW T4 Meat Wagons continues, we start the day waking up in a very moist Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. After a month on the road, the rain has finally caught up with us, but the mission remains the same.

Today we head towards a bucket-list location I’ve wanted to visit for 20 years: the Italian-style village of Portmeirion. However, things didn’t go to plan. If you are travelling with a dog like Bruno, there are some strict rules you need to know before you make the trip.

Everything happens for a reason though, and the detour led us to an incredible free overnight park-up overlooking the Irish Sea with direct beach access and views across to Anglesey. We also find a free spot to empty the chemical waste, discuss the plummeting oil prices, and I finally use the very last Yorkshire tea bag from my November 2025 road trip.

In today’s portion of meat:

Llanberis Rain: Surviving a moist morning and van life magnetic hook hacks.

Portmeirion Fail: Why Bruno wasn’t allowed in and why we had to move on.

Free Facilities: Finding a free spot for chemical waste disposal in North Wales.

Savvy Saving: Getting the best price for diesel and the latest news on global oil prices.

The Secret Spot: Finding a quiet roadside bay with perfect sea views.

  1. Nice scenery , enjoyed that ………

Bollocks to port merion then , if Bruno ain't welcome I won't be going ✌️

    The views looks fantastic 👍👍

  2. 20:15 I believe it's pronounced Port Maddock I've been there before, nice steam railway Ffestiniog railway. Ironic that one the reasons UK stopped producing coal was to be more green but instead we import it from Australia, yeah very green 😂 🤣

  3. No dogs? I'd move on as well👎. Bruno is a cracker. Great scenery. My t4 is a 2.5 petrol so its never a economic trip for me!!!

  4. We went to the same Tesco as you went to a couple days ago and last night we parked just down the road from you for the night!!

  5. Lovely spot for a park up,no dog refusal there!
I spent some time in Anglesey in the van and found it was very grey and industrial on the E/NE coast, oil tankers for views. The W/SW/S coast was beautiful and certainly made up for it.
I dropped down to the Llyn Peninsula after that and it soon become one of my favourite places in Wales 😎

  6. I did one of those DNA things a while back and I’m apparently 1.8% Welsh, which is less than I’d like to be, tbh.

  7. Many years ago they used to have cats who roamed around the village! There were also peacocks! It’s a pity that your Bruno was not allowed!
