What is life like in Italy’s poor traditional villages? 🇮🇹

In this video, I take you to my village in southern Italy during a special day of religious celebrations, showing a side of the country that most tourists never get to see. While many people think of places like Rome or Milan, life in small rural villages is completely different.

On days like this, the village comes alive. The quiet streets fill with people, traditions take center stage, and generations come together to celebrate something deeply rooted in local culture.

Throughout the year, life here is simple and slow. Many homes are old, and a lot of young people have moved away in search of work. But during these special moments, you can truly feel the heart of the community.

In this video, you’ll see the atmosphere of the celebration, the streets, the people, and the traditions that make these villages so unique.

It’s authentic, emotional, and full of history.

This is a side of Italy that most travellers never experience.

Would you experience a celebration like this? Let me know in the comments 👇

📍 Location: Soriano Calabro, Italy (my village)

  1. Italy is ranked having one of the shortest average heights in Europe with men standing around 5ft 9 inches (175cm) and women standing around 5ft 4 inches (163cm) If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? Btw, you are looking so adorable 😍🥰

  2. No entiendo por qué siendo italiana tienes que hablar en inglés. Y no en español o italiano. Mala cosa. Dejaré de verte

  3. Skirt seems fine as the minimal amount of material should balance the top or even trim a little off to get it 50/50.

  4. Mam can you please teach me Italian culture I want to ask you if I want to marry Italian women how much I would give to her can you please tell me

  5. un posto così piccolo e sconosciuto è comunque magnifico, l'Italia non ha senso, troppo bella

  6. hi, If you ever get the chance, please come Bangladesh, and explore beautiful places like bandarban, thaanchi, Saint Martin's Island, debota-mokh, Tindu Bandarban, Sreemangal's tea gardens, Ratargul Swamp Forest, Kaptai Lake, Sajek Valley, and Rangamati. You can also enjoy delicious foods like Kacchi Biryani, Tehari, a variety of small fish curries and mashed dishes (borta), pitha (traditional rice cakes), and other unique cultural foods.

If you're traveling in Bangladesh, many local travel groups can help and provide guides for a better experience.

Bangladesh has rich mix of nature, culture, unique history.🥰

  10. Dear Irene, thank you again! I love the way you present your hometown and other places in Italy. You are so authentic and your stories are very interesting. My grandfather was born in Calabria. I misplaced his birth certificate but when I find it I can tell you exactly where in Calabria he was born. He passed away quite a long time ago, but he is here in my heart. He came to the U.S. with his mother when he was a young man. He only spoke a little Italian when I was around. My father is still with us but does not speak any Italian. It's so nice to see you and your loving family, Irene. I hope you continue to keep up these precious videos from Italy for us. Peace and good health to you always. ❣

  11. Yes, the skirt is too short for a "Religious" Holiday! Some modesty would add to your charm, Irene. Not everything has to be … shown, only the landscapes!😉

  12. Warm greetings, Irene. Southern Italy (Mezzogiorno) is definitely incredibly rich in history, culture, natural landscapes, and gastronomy.
    Greetings from Spain.

  13. YOU never stop to amaze me ..great video again……can you tell me how far is maeria Costanza to this village

  14. The Cumprunta procession with all the police presence, the free buffet at the bar after and the homemade ravioli and goat lunch your mom put together all came through beautifully. Content like this deserves to stay discoverable long after the upload. Worth turning it into a searchable destination page that keeps driving traffic over time. Do you ever worry about your older videos losing visibility over time?

  15. Beautiful.. and such a good atmosphere. I have visited many places in the north of Italy but none in the south yet. Looks like I'll have to change that.

  16. 17. Hey Irene, I almost missed it scrolling too fast but I saw that today is your birthday. Happy birthday.

You remind me of a beautiful spring orchid. Black suits you perfectly, it is elegant and timeless. So many Americans never quite learn how to dress, I am sure you have seen at least one walking around in socks and sandals with a T shirt.

One thing I think would be really interesting is if you made a video about style and fashion. I notice it, but hearing your perspective and how you think about it would be really intriguing.
