Tiny Windows Serving Wine? Yes Please

A glass of wine…served out of a window 🍷

In Florence, Italy there are tiny little windows built into the side of most noble palaces. And from these tiny windows, wine is served.

Affectionately known as “buchette del vino”, Florence’s wine windows date back to the 16th Century, and were a means for noble families to sell their wine directly to the public. Their usefulness, however, really became apparent during the Covid-19 pandemic, and doubled as a unique solution to minimizing contact and halting the spread of illness.

We explore the history and preservation of these wine windows, and how they are still used today. Watch as @JacobHarrell guides you through this story. 🚀

  3. I got lost about 200 times filming around the city for this one! 😅 Could have been the wine though I suppose… But what a city and great characters, thanks for sending me out to film here GBS!

  4. Hello.. I was looking for a video about a guy working on a video game ,(mostly but him self ) for a long time . I was wondering if it was this channel and if you could repost it

  5. Me: I don't have a drinking problem.

16th Century Italian Nobles: We should have a system of holes across the city that will hand us a glass of wine whenever we want.

  6. A sunset walk along the river, a glass of wine from the hole in the wall, followed by a bistecca alla Fiorentina neraby. One of my favourite memories from Florence.

  7. I do love me an Aperol spritz, and I have tried a limoncello spritz before as well and it's pretty good. But the Aperol will always be my primary go to drink. Oh…yes!

  8. Great video. Wine windows are a novel little thing I hadn't ever heard about and the video is in the same style as your older videos (the better style, if I may).

  9. We were in Florence/Tuscany in May.I was on a wine tour as I love Italian food and especially the wine. I completely forgot about the windows! But it was a fantastic trip! If you can make the trip to Italy you must go! Bellissimo!

  10. it doesn't mean window, it means little mouth, like literally "Little Mouth of Wine" which is way better than window (which would be finestra)
