Hey y’all today in Crys Kitchen we are cooking up a special fun dish that I love to have for Sunday dinner or even the Christmas holiday. This dish is tasty and awe-mazing. Itโs my Maโs Meaty Sunday Lasagna and just like the title suggest it is filled with meaty goodness tasty sauce and of course packed with layers of cheesy yumminess. And what I love best is there is no ricotta in this dish but thereโs an unexpected ingredient twist!
What you’ll need:
1 box no boil lasagna
9×13 casserole pan
2 cups of mozzarella (or provolone for layering)
additional parmesan or Italian blend to top
parsley to garnish(optional)
Meat Sauce:
1 pound Italian sausage (remove casing if necessary)
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 small onion chopped
2-3 garlic gloves minced
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
3-4 Tablespoons dried Italian herb seasoning
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
2 (28 ounce) cans of crushed tomatoes
2-3 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 cups beef broth (or water)
1/2 cup red wine (optional can use more broth or water instead)
Cheese Mixture
2 eggs
3-4 cups small curd cottage cheese
1cup shredded Italian blend cheese
salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup parsley
