About August 21st, 2019, I was introduced to Rigo Spanish Italian Restaurant which is located across Safeway on Kapahulu Ave. We started off with a Kale and Papaya salad which was very good. Then we had a pizza topped with arugula and prosciutto along with sun dried tomatoes and olives. What I remember was that the pizza dough was light and fluffy. I brought some slices home. 3 days later I took it out of the refrigerator and put it in the microwave for 40 seconds and when I ate it again, I immediately remembered the difference. With the amount of arugula on the pizza, you got the feeling that you were eating something healthy.
This was followed by my favorite dish of the evening, a pasta dish with a cream sauce and deep fried portabello mushrooms.
Finally, our seafood pasta arrived. It had Kauai shrimp, manila clams, squid with rice cooked in seafood stock.
The shrimp were huge and tasted different (more meaty) than the frozen shrimp I usually purchase.
If you want a dining experience really different from the food normally served in Honolulu Restaurants, I recommend a trip to Rigo Spanish Italian Restaurant.
