Pasta Sisters and the Helms Design District will bring a taste of an Italian summer to Culver City on Saturday, Aug. 15, with a free Ferragosto celebration featuring food, music and Italian culture.

Held from 1-6 p.m. at the Helms Design District, the event takes inspiration from Ferragosto, Italy’s traditional August holiday centered on gathering with family and friends for food, music and festivities.

Pasta Sisters, founded by chef Paola Da Re and her family, will offer a demonstration of hand-rolled tortellini, sharing the techniques and traditions behind the Italian pasta. The restaurant specializes in house-made pastas, slow-simmered sauces and family recipes passed down for generations.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the afternoon at an Italian marketplace. Dolcenero will serve gelato, Sogno Toscano will offer cheese, salumi and olive oil tastings, while Caffe Luxxe will serve complimentary espresso, cappuccino and Americanos.

Lei’d Cookies will debut three limited-edition cookies created in collaboration with Pasta Sisters for the event. Absolutely Nuts will offer samples of Sicilian pistachio cream, pesto and butter, while SOLZI and Better Booch will sell beverages.

Father’s Office will host a Ferragosto Beer Garden on its street-level patio with craft beer and specialty cocktails. Orto Farms, a nonprofit urban farm based in Northeast Los Angeles, will operate a farmstand featuring Italian heirloom and DOP-certified produce.

Live music from Jon Sosin & friends will run from 1-3 p.m., followed by DJ Benofficial from 3-6 p.m. Fondazione Italia will host Italian story time, pasta jewelry making and other family activities.

Guests are encouraged to bring new backpacks and unused school supplies, which will be collected for A Child’s Dream, a nonprofit providing resources to children in underserved communities.

Ferragosto is free and open to the public from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Helms Design District, 8800 Venice Blvd., Culver City.
