Americans shop at Italian supermarket – I absolutely go crazy for European supermarkets.
They just feel so much better and more down to earth than ours in America. Today a couple we’ve seen before took us on a great tour of an Italian market. The amount of pasta is insane, the meat looks better, the ingredients are fresher — everything just hits different.

  2. About "Kinder" I was sure it was a German brand but I just found out it belongs to "Ferrero" which is Italian.

  3. Foreigners are surprised to learn that Italians are the world's biggest drinkers of bottled water. In fact, you'll find it in large quantities in supermarkets. People, we are what we drink! Our bodies are made up of 70-80% water. Hence its importance. Therefore, maximum transparency is needed when it comes to drinking water. Italians complain that tap water, especially in large cities, often has a chlorine taste due to its disinfection process, excessive limescale, and the possible presence of nitrates and nitrites, the latter considered very dangerous in food. Bottled water, on the other hand, must not undergo any purification or disinfection treatment (chlorine). Read the label and choose water with nitrates below 10 mg/l. This way, you not only avoid ingesting excessive nitrates, but you also drink water that's little or not at all contaminated by other substances, since the presence of nitrates in water is a good indicator of its contamination status. So, what happens if, in addition to the nitrates we ingest daily with drinking water, we also add the nitrates and nitrites from cured meats? Nitrates can, in fact, combine with the nitrites found in cured meats and pass into the stomach, combining with secondary amines found in protein-rich foods like meat, cured meats, and cheeses, and ultimately forming N-Nitrosamines, substances considered carcinogenic because they are DNA mutagens.   5. Yellowish coloured chicken owes it to having been fed with maize and definitely not to some artificial colouring that would have been added to the cut meat.
    Brown eggs were laid by brown chickens, white eggs were laid by white chickens.
    Food allergies – a relatively new trend – comes from bad (chemical) growing processes; in "Europe" where there are strict regulations on food production, such allergies are rare.

  7. As for eggs, I live in northern Italy, for a pack of 12 I pay between 2.89 and 4.99, it honestly depends on whether they are fresh/organic etc, the price can vary.

  8. Egg prices have risen significantly in the Czech Republic over the past two years. Currently, farm-fresh eggs cost about $0.50 each, organic eggs from the supermarket cost $0.60–$0.70 each, and eggs from large-scale farms in the supermarket cost $0.40 each.

  9. Sweety. From The Netherlands a big hello🎉. Just wanna let you know that you look very healty and it really shows that you care about you and you're family❤. You can easily make you're own pasta, with whole weat flower. But I would like you to dive in you're Olive oil. Even Bartolli witch we have hear also, is rubbish. If you know that you're Car runs on some of them, that should tell. Mayby you would look into it? It absolutly worth it. Many regards from Wil. Holland❤

  10. The black pasta is actually coloured with squid ink (Cephalopod ink)
    In a restaurant in Norway i asked about this the first time i saw it, it was in a Michelin restaurant, so naturally the chef there was very passionate about his job, so very eagerly he took me in to the kitchen, showed me around and then showed me both the squid and how he got the ink.
    There and then i must admit i wish i did not ask, because to me that was not something i wanted to put in my self, but i trusted them and told my self it was probably ok, and also, the tour in the kitchen with the super eager chef was worth it.. lol

  11. Some italians eat no glutine pasta even if they have problems with glutine. Its just a stupid trend because advertaising demonize it and they think its more healthy to avoid it: a lot of nutritionists speack about this: glutine is not a poison, its importamt in the diet! Only the few people with problems should avoid it.
