In this video, we follow Daiaana through a typical Saturday in Yakutsk as the temperature drops to –54°C. You will see how she heats her home where radiators run at maximum power to keep the cold at bay. Daiaana shows how she keeps her food in the frozen air outside her window and uses solid blocks of frozen milk for her morning coffee. You’ll also see how she dresses in 11kg of heavy layers and reindeer fur boots just to step outside safely. You will also discover how her sister drives in the thick “Ice Fog” using insulated car blankets to survive the Arctic winter. From the high cost of fresh fruit to a night out in high heels on solid ice, this is the reality of daily life in the coldest city on Earth.

  1. I like the fact, that the student from Africa, who was not used to that type of weather at all, like being there anyway,. He liked the people and the culture and didn’t mind the very cold temperatures. That’s being grateful.

  2. Watching this in Asheville, 2026. I was prepared for astronomical grocery prices but was surprised to see they're cheaper there than here. 😞 Aside from that bummer reality check, I really enjoyed the video!

  3. 9 bucks for lunch like that? trying to dine in for lunch at a local area would cost me $15-$30 in hawaii

  4. Hahahaha in a northern state in the USA I pay at least $300 a month for heating (and then there is electricity)

  5. I don't know why I like to see the coldes city of life 😂😂too difficult, but attack me😅

  6. In Sydney, Australia in April 2026, average prices for eating outside, in Australian Dollars (today $1 = 56 RUB): $20 breakfast, $25 lunch, $30 dinner, $10 snacks.

  7. I believe this area is second to only South Africa in diamond mine production which is why there is any significant population at all.

  8. Or…you could move somehwere warm and civilized, find a better paying job and not have to spend every penny on coats and boots…They live there by choice.. can't exactly empathise.

  9. I think the clothes are beautifully made and the people who make them should be compensated but I think it's a shame the prices are so outrageous and unaffordable because they know the people need them. The cost of food terrible. The worst is darkness for 8 months. No thanks. If you live there you'd definitely be skinny. 😂
