  1. Definitely depends on the kid cause if my daughter goes to bed late she’s still up early in the morning but she’s grumpy cause she didn’t get enough sleep. And then WAY over tired in the evening and bed time is a tantrum ridden nightmare unless she sleeps in bed with me and then I don’t sleep cause im a light sleeper and she flops like a fish. Now we are both waking up on early the next day in a bad mood cause neither of us slept enough🥲

  2. As long as the kids are able to get up for and function at school, do whatever works for you.

  3. As much as my husband and I would love some time to ourselves after the kids go to bed, we’re normally tired at like 8:008:30 so we go to bed at the same time as our kids and I will say putting him in bed isn’t ever too much of a problem as long as we have some sort of wind down like reading a book and praying together, but he’s not coming out of his bed or pushing and whining for more books, he normally falls asleep within 5-10 minutes after book and prayer.

  4. I’ll gladly have my son go to bed at the same time as me, so starting tomorrow I’m going to go to bed at his bedtime 8:30! Cleaning up can wait till tomorrow morning

  5. 1. Kids need more sleep than adults
    2. They have school or daycare in the morning and have to get up at crack asp in the morning.
    3. With little kids, no matter what time they go to bed, they still get up the same time in the morning…unfortunately…so they need an earlier bedtime to get the required amount of sleep.
    4. Parents need alone time and time to decompress.

  6. Mom of 2 toddlers and I promise you I am absolutely going to bed at 7:30/8 as well 😂 maybe that’s why we’ve never had any bedtime fights and I’ve never noticed high energy before bed.
    Do what works!

  7. Just adding it maybe an Italian thing but not a Europian thing as I grew up there and was certainly in bed before my parents.!

  8. Couldn’t you still “wind down” and model for them and just not go to bed after they do? That’s what my partner and I do. We need that extra hour or 2 to spend some time together! But all our families work different, do what you want!

  9. Maybe it will change, but my 10 month can go to bed at 5pm and sleep till 6am. If I put him to bed at 7pm, he'll wake up at 5am.
But kids are different. I'm just happy I got one that likes to sleep, like me.

  10. It is interesting….btw, I have always done this, and if you try this, please note, kids will still be super energetic, but children will start telling you that they need to go to bed at some point, and they will tell you that you all need to get ready for bed now. So, they will get used to go to bed when they need to. And children need a lot of sleep, so they will still sleep before you, and you still have some time for you, but you will already be ready for bed as well which is also nice. It is a very chill way of spending your evenings.
In my culture, parents behave more like parents in the US in that regard, but I learnt the way I talked about above, from my former Spanish teacher😊
