Italians are different type of people and are passionate about authentic Italian food, they get insulted when things aren't correctly done or traditional. But he was just being insulting and rude.
Tacos are indigenous to the land, not just the tribes from Mexico but many other tribes that are north of the current border. Also, he insulted all the other cultures of food. It is disgusting to pretend that your country is the only one that is acceptable, and the idea that what other people make isnt also "love on a plate" is again obnoxious. Also Italian food is not that impressive, it is basic and unappealing. Also, spaghetti it is a fusion made from Asain noodles and American tomatoes.
Last and most definitely not least, the insulting implication that he isnt making the right food for his wife is way past acceptable. That the wife was okay with the treatment is the worst part
If you're going to be that offended the entire time, either don't come or make your own food. I'm pretty sure he would have complained even with an Italian chef from Italy just because he thought America was inferior.
