  2. My grandparents were born in Sicily, and so was my father. He came to the US when he was a year old. The family was large, with 15 children over the years; only 9 survived childhood. As the children married and the grandchildren came along, we never had any of the foods you've featured in your video. On Christmas Eve my grandmother served the mob spaghetti with sausage and meatballs. No fish was EVER allowed in the house after my grandfather almost choked to death on a fishbone. The lack of financial resources to have a varied diet also played a role in the Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations. Our grandparents never gave us any gifts because some new grandchild was always arriving. We had Italian cookies one of my aunts made, and they were like oven-baked bricks. The grandchildren refused to eat them, and the aunt had some kind of small cookie machine that she used to turn out those brick-shaped sinkers. The foods you feature in the video are wonderful and quite an experience. Sadly, my grandparents never kept any of the Sicilian customs, and they never took to American holiday customs. That's why videos like yours are so important. Thank you.

  3. One other dish is called coteghino con lenticchie. Iits a sausage made mostly of pork skin with some meat , and is cooked with lentils and erbs. Its so famn good, and ca be cooked anytime not just Christmas.

  4. Just remember that LA Buona cucina gastronomica Italiana regionale is very extensive and every region ,city and towns have very many different specialties.
