Martha’s Favorite Unique Sandwiches | Monte Cristo, Classic Italian, and Liverwurst Recipes

  1. My similar version of a Montecristo sandwich is two cook the French toast bread first on one side. Then I flip it over, add the Jeanne and some cheese, I only add ham, then another layer of cheese, of course. But on the other part of the sandwich, I add preserves. Cherry and blackberry are the favorites in my household. The jam adds enough, sweetness that no powdered sugar is necessary whatsoever. Highly recommend.

And, I am going to ask my husband, a native German, what he would think of an onion sandwich. That sounds really good to me. But I bet he wouldn’t want to add liverwurst. And I’m also OK with that.

  2. Martha, When you crave something to eat, most women are with child. 😊 Love some liverwurst and onion. Every sandwich but the onion. 😊

  3. Martha it was so nice seeing your mother. I remember seeing this video on TV. Love seeing earlier videos of your shows. Thank You for sharing. 😊

  4. If I was going to play Alexandre Dumas, a Frenchman, I would totally dress up as a pilgrim and speak in an Italian Dracula accent.

  5. Just a few days ago I was on a thread where people were talking about their favorite sandwiches from their childhood. Mine was French’s yellow mustard on store bought white bread folded in half, then as I grew more sophisticated I switched to two pieces of store bought white bread drenched with ketchup and then I added potato chips for crunch, then finally when I was way older I
discovered the Fantastic Cuban sandwich and that has remained my favorite. There are others I enjoy as well….but we really don’t
    eat sandwiches often.

  6. Oh my gosh. I thought I was the only one who loves onion sandwiches! People thought I was wierd, it’s simple, but so delicious.

  7. Onion sandwiches 🥪 were from the Great Depression !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone make an onion 🧅 sandwich !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Whenever I feel like I am getting sick zi eat an onion sandwich and poof I am better😅😅😅

  9. I wonder who played that Count of Monte Cristo,,, he was kind of cheesy! Ha Ha! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  11. I like onions but I don’t think I’d eat a whole sandwich of raw onions. The taste is just too strong and lingers for a long time. I like just a hint of a raw onion on a sandwich or salad.

  12. Martha Kostra, your onion sandwich story referring to your Polish American dad harvesting his pungent white onion from his own garden was such a valuable education for you! Happy Feast Day of Saint Stanislaus!

  13. Martha Stewart did her time and she bounced back with an honest working career. She is respectful and she is professional and she carries class. It’s called “being cultured”. Trump, and his team – Vance, Elon, Fox News – do not have class. They name-call people. Call Chinese workers “peasants”. It really is crazy. We do not say that to other people. We are not ghetto. We are not thugs. How can you wage wars, announce to annex other countries, backstab your best friends and allies, and talk like you were born and raised in a ghetto area? You’re the PRESIDENT of America. This is what “the majority” of America voted for, TWICE. It reflects the personality and the values of this country. This is America. We have significantly downgraded to the persona of the uneducated, loud, bullying, crazy, and narcissistic.

  14. As an onion-hater, even the idea of a raw onion sandwich gives me nightmares. But I understand why onion-lovers would really enjoy these.
