[Music] Italian wine travel with Stevie [Music] Kim hello my name is Stevie Kim and welcome to coo you you’ve been following us for the past couple of days now I’ve had a chance to visit different parts of the territory and today I am here with LA zamaro and then of course we have um Luca raro whom you’ve met yesterday so uh for those who are less familiar where is Kia located exactly okay Kia is on the in fi Vana Julia fi Vana Julia is the northeastern region of Italy right on the on the border with Slovenia so CIA is a half moon or banana shaped area I love this this concept of the banana you know because banana is yellow and coo is everything about being yellow so I I think you should think about as a banana that kind of makes sense to me it’s about 7 ,000 hectares area 1,300 of which are planted Vineyards so it’s a very small area and the the trip that we took yesterday it is it was about 22 23 kilm and we went from one side to exactly the opposite side of Colo in just 22 km yes so it’s it’s actually very compact in a way so anyone who comes here for us it was our first time as a group visiting the area and we were able to pretty much move around within the entire territory I would say in 2 to 3 days yeah that’s right okay so now I would like to give a little skinny overview so let’s do 101 colio wine right because we know that you also produce red wines but we won’t be talking about the red lines today we will of course focus on White Lines so who’s going to talk about the wines our production is dedicated on the our indigenous varieties and on the international varieties too we can start with ribola Jala that is the wine that in general we considered an aperitivo wine very fresh and acid and then we go on with a pinoo pinoo is the most productive most planted grap most planted grapes in grape in our our our territory the third wine is Fano because is considered the King of our autocon varieties and the wine that in general every Winery has in their production and the last one is our blend is called coo as the area and for us is the uh concentration of the territory so let’s do a quick tasting okay and for our our a it’ll be a dry tasting for them but let’s go through the wines and give me some distinctive characteristics about each wine and they eat great variety from Kaa ribola is a fresh wine the first one yeah it’s a fresh wine it’s uh distinctive because has this fresh acidity and is very easy to drink it no so we consider it a normal apperitive wine for this reason is a very drinkable wine and you can feel the freshness directly on the nose that is a little bit flowering but um fruity too you know David told me that the yellow color of the the Consortium of coo comes actually from ribola Jala yeah Jala is of course yellow is that is that correct yeah I I’m just double checking it is because the grape of ribola Jala is very very yellow this uh is a real characteristic of our territory is the last grape that we pick every year because it’s the last grape that has his maturation the second one is pin the pin in this case is a little bit Rosé Rosé this is because the contact with skin gives this color as the wine very very short contact pin is a not a white grape but is a little bit colorated is a little bit red grape skin you called it Pino G but it’s really Pino G right because we’re in Italy why did you do that even if this white wine is called Pino and is a international variety our territory can give at this variety a lot of our characteristics so the mark of the territory is always always present and you can feel it directly in the wine because the wine is very grateful very strong body and this minerality is given only from our soils from our expositions from our territory too okay let’s move on to the next white wine from the next is the what I think that is the king of our territory that is the Fano this wine has this characteristic that is a little bit bitter at the end so when we drink it we can feel this bitterness at the end that is the special characteristic of this wine we have a lot of uh dishes that are bitter and we love it so we can refind this characteristics on this wine so this wine is the typical Mark the typical tape of a normal frean people the last one is coo Okay coo is blend coo biano is the blend of our territory so is the wine that each producer can choose to make in a different way our rules are very simple you can use only the 15% of the aromatic varieties that for us are Min aromatico and mu Tura that are present in our territory for a very very small part so you can use autocon varieties and international varieties too together or only International only autocon it depends from the choosing of the wine maker so is co biano is the most popular wine from Kia I think that after Pino we have Pino we have three Plano because is uh very common in our Vineyards we have very old Vineyards in general so we want to maintain this uh indigenous variety inside our old Vineyards then I think that there is the COO biano because is the representation of our territory so it’s true thatth everyone can choose the composition but uh the mark of the territory here in this wine cames out very very uh clearly you can find the freshness the aromatic part that is not aromatic as an aromatic variety is a very very intense and uh flower and fruity part of flavors and at last this very very strong body and the minerality that is really the C istic of coo I guess I would like to ask you Lavinia if you have a passport an identity card how would you five things about coo to recognize to remind people what coo is talking about wines I would say freshness body sidity and of course uh um the the ability of the wines to age very very well a very important characteristic that our our wines have is to be able to age for up to 20 25 years with no problem and still keep some freshness to them and still have all their body and the structure and the perfumes and the scents that Luca was telling you about before and what about in terms of geology we spoke a lot about PKA yes that’s right well P if Luca said that fan is the king of Kia and I like to say that Ponka is the queen because Ponka is the reason why our wines are like this Ponka is basically uh it is called fle in geological terms and it is an um a layering of sandstone and Marl coming from the rising of the bottom of the oceans in the osanic age so it is a soil that is very rich of minerals and you can taste that in the wines that we produce so you know if for people who’ve never tried coo biano for example who would you recommend um to try coo biano I think that coo biano is not the first wine white wine that I recommend from Co from yeah from coo which which one then I think that the first is uh ribola Jala Jala is but it’s so training yeah is because it’s easy to drink and to for start is easy to understand this wine then you can feel the characteristics of the territory at the same time and uh if you are curious you can go on with Pino and then at last I think that coo biano is the concentration of all the wines that are characterized this territory I would suggest try call your biano to people who like like to enjoy a good glass of wine together with food because it is a very gastronomical wine that pairs very well with a number of different foods and at the same time people who also like to put a little bit of effort into understanding a glass of wine so it’s not so immediate yes you can have it with dinner and it it can be quite easy but if you give it a little bit more attention it just opens up to a world of different characteristics Cheers Cheers Cheers okay and that’s a wrap from coo Chi [Music]
