but that’s not how you say it when you
work with European wines you’re going to
be dealing with a lot of different
languages and look I understand I make
mistakes over this last summer I was
changing countries every week when
Portugal to France to Italy to Hungary
to Croatia to Slovenia so just in a span
of weeks have to go from pronouncing the
producer
casafuno to the producer croissant shrim
snack or maybe the Hungarian variety
and I’m sorry I don’t speak seven to
nine languages I’m trying to improve my
pronunciation okay if I have knowledge
in a specific region somebody’s
pronouncing it wrong I usually pull them
aside and say it to them either side or
send them a private message so it
doesn’t look like I’m trying to make
them wrong in public so if you’re in
wine your consumer you hear a wine
Communicator wine Journal is pronouncing
something wrong just have a little
sympathy please and don’t be that guy
that says

This is so true. I am Portuguese and just appreciate when anyone even gives any of the regions or grape varieties pronunciations a try.
It is absolute cringe when I hear someone who visited Spain once try to correct someone else on the lisp in Mencia 😂 Relax! More important things in this world to worry about.
So true. 😂
I love how you made this to be an infinite loop. Also, I really appreciate you encouraging wine people to not be assholes 😄
OK, Take 3 deep breaths….. 😅
I’m glad even the professionals can’t nail all of them 😂 I was at an Italian tasting once and I think the winemaker was slightly unhappy hearing “Nebbiala” instead of “Nebbiolo” 👀
Ha! Completely agree.
You’re doing a great job 👏
Mateus Rose’ was my go to Portuguese wine 🍷 when I was 18/19
Who gives an F about the pronunciation. It is wine and it is supposed to be drunk. Drink it, if you like it, great. Enjoy it, move on. If you don't know how to pronounce it, ASK. All this is just hype
Nothing wrong with pronouncing places or grapes with a native accent anyways. Obviously, I am very impressed when I hear the grape “Riesling” or “Grüner Veltliner” being pronounced by non natives very adequately. However, it’s waaaaay more interesting to hear a great variety of accents pronouncing it because obviously, I know what we are talking about. It’s not relevant at all if it’s pronounced like a native, why would it? So, people should embrace native accents of others a bit more. 😅
