There is nothing new in missing Italy if you are an Italian living abroad. But the impertinent collector made a choice in 1996 and choosing between Paris, New York and London, he moved to London.
Today he will cover: what is love, which city is changing and which city changes you.
We discover why the French king had no time for parliament and why Sartre got to the same point.
What Paris has to do with the Garden of Eden and why Marcel Proust called love reciprocal torture.
This vision of Paris is tour for the mind not for the body and De Sade is greatly missed.
As usual, we have family stories and connections, real personal experiences, the impact of looking back and much more in a trip that is part life philosophy and part penal journey.

wow i love your stories! love from amsterdam, -Greta
So interesting the dicotomies in France, the most protesting and yet the most overt to power dynamics. Still crazy to think about the omni-power of Luis XVI, literary chosen by god and with unbounded executive power… But I was expecting at least a good story about good food too!!!
Of course you were young and impressionable then, and your universe was still Europe..n critics might say your view may be too Eurocentric now that the world has grown so much smaller…who knows you might find paradise in Seoul,Tokyo,HK maybe even Singapore …and as a preternaturally gifted insightful traveller you might find Joberg,Dakkar ,nay even Lima….your dream city..just kidding..
the heart knows it's rewards as they say…an enjoyable episode.
Fascinating must not put off my trip to parie any longer gt story teller! Thank you.
