How To Make The Most Of Your Trip To Taormina, Sicily In Just 8 Hours!

In this episode of ‘Italian Wine Travel’ with Stevie Kim she takes a tour of Taormina, the stunning hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily near Mount Etna.

Today Stevie is on tour with local guide Mario Musumeci.

Amongst the highlights of the tour was a visit to the ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina, which appears in the White Lotus, and Lady Florence Trevelyan’s English garden, before jumping on an APE Calessino, the iconic three-wheeled motorcycle vehicle made famous in films like La Dolce Vita.

From here it was on to Castelmola, one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, which offers incredible views over Taormina (and the Greek Theatre), Mount Etna, the Ionian Sea, and the bay of Giardini Naxos, where they sampled the the town’s traditional almond wine blandanino before Stevie snuck out to catch a glimpse of the remarkable objects on display at the famous Bar Turrisi (no spoilers!).

Finally, the tour concluded in Savocca, which will be familiar to many of you as the setting for Francis Ford Copella’s Godfather films.
