I can confirm this is easy comfort food for Italians, my mom always made this when I was sick and I eat it when I don‘t have a lot of time 😂
This is a recipe every Italian grows up knowing how to make… but the first time I, an American that didn’t know this yet, decided to make my Italian husband Alfredo sauce he was super offended and demanded to know who this Alfredo was and “what is his sauce!?”
😂
To make it even worse, I made chicken Alfredo, which is not an Italian dish at all 😅
Great content here.
This whole Alfedo thing in America has been a pet peeve of mine for decades.
Max, if you're gonna shine a light on true Alfredo, you should probably pull the veils off chateaubriand and Cesar salad. The origin of the super burrito, nachos and fajitas should probably be scrutinized as well, ( No Timmy, there is no such thing as chicken fajitas).
Well done Max.
Cheers!
“Picture it…Sicily…” 😂😂😂😂 love the Sophia reference. And now, I have some Alfredo to make. ❤️
Fresh pasta is awesome, homemade is magical, but you can buy dried that is equally as good. If in doubt, check the country of origin – Made in Italy? It’s likely going to be great
Well produced and factual to the original recipe. Nice.
I was at Target a few days ago and I saw Max’s cookbook. It’s $30 at Target.
So… Best and truest Fettuccine Alfredo is the friends we make along the way.
Yummy! I’ll have to make this. I often make my own pasta and it’ll be great!
Love the gold fork and spoon!
By the way in terms of you had me at garum. This week I was thinking of Italian Garam Masala or Garum Marsala made of colatura di alici and marsala wine, probably disgusting.
Thank you for pointing this out Max! Italians DO NOT use cream in their dishes, our version is some Olive Garden monstrosity, it's not actual Italian cuisine!
Looks like plain fried noodles with no caramel sauce.
I like my Alfredo with big chunks of chicken, broccoli and a white sauce
My kids have been making this forever. Had no idea it was the traditional way of making Alfredo. They would just take leftover spaghetti noodles and mix some butter and parmesan into it. They just called it butter noodles…. LOL
Everyone in the old paintings is eating pasta with their hands. No forks. I feel like this is the best way to eat it.
I watched you before garum! Greetings from Hamburg 🙂
Best cooking / history channel on YouTube right now
Ive been eating pasta with just butter and cheese since I was a kid. I always assumed I was just weird.
love the video, love the history, hate hello fresh. tried once never again. just like purple carrot and all the others out there. 1, These meal prep companies do not fully take into consideration all diets 2 the cost of these subscriptions are 2-3 times more expensive than going to the grocery store. depending on what store you go to The stores carry the same products, you simply need to learn what to look for. Diagnosis save your money and just go shopping and i do not mean instacart unless you absolutely HAVE to.
olive garden another type mcdonald chain in usa?
I always find it whimsically amusing that the Italian idea of a light, easily digestible dish for the weak and sick is pasta loaded with fatty cheese and butter.
I heard this story long ago, but you tell it better. 😁🤤
